So my friend is a hairdresser (he's not doing our hair) but he was talking about his sisters wedding next week and how all her bridesmaids are having the same hairstyle even though one of the maids (who is a little heavier than the rest) doesn't like it. So heres my question I have always thought and said that my BMs can di what they want regarding hair etc (one of my BMs has short red hair, one has mid length curly black hair and one has long blonde hair!). He was going on and on about how weddings hes seen where the BMs aren't uniformed look crap and all BMs should look the same throughout the party. Basically shot me down when I said I wanted my BMs to be individual and have their hair how they wanted. But he has also made me question my decision. What are you/would you/did you doing?

i dont think it matters at all what you have. matching looks lovely is everyone has the same type of hair - but if have short medium and long hair bridesmaids then that just isnt going to work without extensions.
im letting my MOH pick her own hair - she wants it half up half down with curls as she has a tattoo on her neck that she doesnt want showing on the day. my other bridesmaid is my 15 year old cousin so she will just have the same (havent discussed it with her) but i know she will like it as me and her had it for my dads wedding last year. the little ones are having their hair pretty similar - at 5 and 8 they will have what their told lol.
you have whatever you want - not everyone has to have the same xx

I would like my BMs all with the same or similar hairstyles and jewellery, but thats just because I intend on them wearing different colour dresses and it will tie them in abit more. I have asked them all to keep an eye out for styles they like then we discuss nearer the time. I dont think it would bother me if they had different styles if they were all wearing same colours/dresses though. All personal preference.

My bridesmaids were totally matching (apart from footwear under a long dress so were not visible and similar jewellery).

I wanted a uniform look and they agreed so was not an issue, however, if you want and like them to have different hair styles then go for it, don't let anyone dictate that to you, there is no hard and fast rule about it xxx

originally I wanted my older bm to have all the same (youngest are all having the same anyway), but as my one sister is intending on having short hair and my one friend has afro type hair unless we took drastic measure's it's going to be difficult, but as they're all going to be wearing the same dress I'm not too concerned as long as they're happy and comfortable xx
it's been a long hard road, but hopefully we're getting
somewhere :) xx
Idk, i live your bms IDL but they look like they have similar hair colour a d length! But what do you do if all your bms hair are very different, like Jessica my bms are very different, one with short blonde haur, one with long light brown very curly hair, one which changes every couple months from blue to red to green etc, but im sure she would go natural for me, dark brown and one min its longish next its very short! Then i have my lil cousin who has long ginger hair! (Called amy :). ) All really different.

Thanks hun. Yes they both have long ormmid length hair that could be put into an up do, my sister normally likes her hair shorter but grew it for our wedding.
Our FG just had her hair down natural but she's only 3 so she just looked just like a a little bridesmaid should in an ivory dress.

If your bridesmaids all have totally different styles then maybe you can have them with different styles but with your final approval xxx

My bridesmaids wore the same colour dress in a different style, and had their hair curled differently - as they have different length hair. I'll put a pic in my album if you want to see x

I have told my BM's they can have their own hair however they like in whichever style they feel suits them best. I want to maintain a laid back approach to the whole wedding and try my best to avoid being a bridezilla so I let the girls pick their dresses (as long as they were the same), shoes and hair styles. I wouldnt worry to much about the girls hair. All eyes will be on you no-one is going to notice a small detail such as hair styles xx

When I was bridesmaid at my brother's wedding we all matched, but it was a simple style which was ok for everyone. I'm not planning on having my bridesmaids match because they all have different hair lengths and styles (wavy, curly, straight etc.) and differently shaped faces. It would be nigh on impossible to do something that worked for everyone. I'll have a matching accessory, but otherwise I'd rather they all look their best. Aside from wanting them to be happy and feel good, it won't look good if they don't all have a hairstyle that suits them.

I think its personal choice.... i personally dont like matching hair at all as can end up looking like robots if all the same but told all my bridesmaid they could have what they wanted as long as they were happy and think its shows their personalities and suits their hair/face.

I told my bridesmaids that they could do whatever they wanted with their hair. They're all blonde but one has short hair, one has long straight and the other has long curly ... it didn't even cross my mind to have them all in the sme hairdo! They all had the same dresses, but different shoes. I gave them necklaces as gifts and my MOH also got a bracelet. I would have given them earrigns too, but one of them doesn't have pierced ears.

I'm going with mismatched but co-ordinated.
I have 4 adult BMs, and 1 junior BM. 3 of the adult BMs are wearing floor length, strapless emerald green chiffon dresses by the same designer, but one of them is slightly different to the other two due to their different body shapes. My other adult BM is wearing a short, fitted, ivory dress, and my junior BM will be in ivory, and it will likely be on the knee/slightly above the knee in length.
Hair-wise, the one wearing ivory has a short, asymmetrical hair style ie jaw-length on one side, and cropped on the other. 2 of my other BMs have very long, thick, wavy hair, and my 4th adult BM has straight hair that falls just below her shoulder. The junior one has fine, blonde hair. They also have different face shapes. A uniform look just would not work for their hair; likewise their make-up. So, they will be doing their own.
Personally, I did want them to look co-ordinated so that they don't just look like guests, but I feel that the coordinating dresses, along with their bouquets, are more than enough to ensure that they look like bridesmaids.

I have 4 adult bridesmaids and they've all got different length hair and like to wear it differently so I'll leave it down to them. Their dresses and their bouqets will match so I don't see the problem. If you want mismatch they all have different colour hair too! My moh is a red head like myself, 1 bridesmaid is a brunette (currently - she changes a lot), 1 bridesmaid has really really short currently red hair and my other bridesmaid is bleach blonde. :P

I had my 2 teenage nieces 14 and 16 and my FG was 3 they all had their hait the same one is a strawberry blonde and the another 2 are blonde they had their hair to the side in a bun but the FG had a plait going across the top as well they all matched except FG had a white dress and the teenagers were in pink they were so good and completely happy to go with what I wanted x

It's completely up to you...it's your day and our choice :) I've been bridesmaid twice and we were allowed to choose our hair and for me personally It made me feel so confident for how I looked for the day so I'm doing the same for my BM. But I have been to weddings where they have had the same style and they were all very different girls and that looked nice too! My hairdresser tried to advise me that they may choose a style that doesn't go with their dress, I couldn't give a stuffing about that heehee xx

Sometimes matching bridesmaids don't suit well, women have different body and head shapes that sometimes a single, uniform dress and hair style may suit one but not the others. My youngest bridesmaid will have a slightly different dress to the adults, purely because she is a child. Their hair will be same but you can't go wrong with hair all down with light curls.

I have 6 bridesmaids, all in the same dress and have suggested that perhaps they have a messy side bun to go with their maxi one shoulder dresses. All that have hair long enough for this liked this suggestion but if they didn't then I wouldn't make them have their hair like that. I am sure nearer the time we will discuss it more. 2 of my BMs have slightly shorter hair and who knows what they will do, up to them really and see what the hairdresser suggests. My BMs are all different shapes and heights which is why I went for Maxi dresses as when they tried them all they flattered everyone and everyone felt confident and comfortable in them :) It also means they can wear whatever shoes they like lol!

My bridesmaids are all different heights, different coloured hairs.... although the will have the same dress and shoes (tea length dress so i thought matching shoes would look better), i'm giving them free reign on hair as long as it's back in some sort of way as i want my hair down. x
