Our honeymoon decision making has been horrible from the word go!!!
OH wanted to go to Sri Lanka next December so we could maybe watch some cricket (England are touring). Which I think is an amazing idea!!!!! Then a few months later he decides not. So then we look into Jamaica (where he has already been in the exact same resort!!) or maybe Mexico or Cuba. But he just isn't bothered!!! I know we're gonna be looking at going next September time probably so we can save some money after the wedding but its stressing me out!!
Then he finds out his auntie is getting married in Vegas next September/October (I can see this not going ahead!) and he says Monday if you want I think we could afford to go as our honeymoon!!! ERMMMMM YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! Mr I will never go to America is coming round and I have been so excited........ Then I looked at prices!!!! Bearing in mind he's going to be leaving it to someone else to book who has more money than sense were gonna be looking at knocking on £1000pp room only for 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!

Its really upsetting me because I want our honeymoon to be amazing and once in a lifetime but I can see us going to chuffing Benidorm at this rate or just not going at all!!

Has anyone else faced the same problem or am I being melodramatic??????????

Do you know the date she intends to get married? Could you not do Las Vegas as a stop over en route to Hawaii or fly from there to Mexico. If you are only there a few nights it won't be as expensive for the room only thing.
Why will someone else be sorting out your accommodation in Vegas? Can't you stay elsewhere and just see them get married?

The reason we decided against USA was because of the price based on room only being mega. And I felt we could get a better deal all inclusive in the Caribbean.
Obviously if you go to USA it is difficult to get to Cuba so would have to be another island.
Or you could island hop? a week somewhere a week somewhere else?

hi not been faced with that problem but if its not until next September could you not save to pay the £1000 each also why are you leaving it to someone else to book ? yeah you are going to there wedding but do you have to stay where they are getting married can you not stay somewhere close that maybe cheaper with better room options, it is quite a lot for room only. x

Its my OH! He's leaving it to the people who are organising the wedding as they are booking to go anyway.... Because he's so damn lazy and he thinks I get slightly carried away. Yeah we will have saved the money to go easily (especially seen as a few people have given us generous donations towards the wedding) but I just think £1000 for flights and room only is really high, especially when you think nothing in vegas is cheap. You just cant get flight and accommodation ay cheaper I have looked at every comparison site every flight site and hotel booking site.

I don't know even as I'm typing this I feel like a spoilt brat I just don't want to look back and wish we'd done something better whilst we had the chance.
    xx

£1000 for flight and hotel in Vegas for two weeks is pretty good, we have paid £3000 (for two of us) for two weeks in florida and that's just flight and hotel too. Two whole weeks in Vegas might be a bit long thou. We went for 6 days and I was getting fed up with it, have you looked into just a few days in Vegas and then going somewhere else. That way you will have to book your own accommodation aswell so will be able to pick where you stay.
Hope you get it all sorted without anymore stress :) xx

£1000 is each lol! I don't know I am at the stage where I am fed up of looking for him to not be overly bothered because as he puts it "chill out its ages away yet!"
I have sorted every last detail of this wedding out he hasn't done anything (other than pay!) and he says he doesn't want to plan with me he wants to leave it to me and hell just pay!
I don't know if I'm in a bad mood because the stress of the past few months with planning, losing MIL, nearly cancelling then planning again is getting to me or if its just TOTM!

OH wont do island hopping or twin city type holidays as he hates travelling so if he's going somewhere he doesn't want to mess about when we get there.

    EURGH! xx

We got a fairly good deal to a nice rated and looking place in Dom rep for 10 nights in August next year. - 3500 all inc in a swim up suite. Why don't you just sort it? I ended up just sorting it! and we are both supposed to be paying half and he is yet to pay anything so I might be going alone lol!

I may have to its just so ARGH!!!! He gets paid double what I earn so I think he'll probably be paying cos I get paid pittance to be honest.
I'll talk to him tonight. I'm getting to the point where I don't even want to bother ahah!
Whats making it worse is we haven't been on holiday since feb 2012 and we wont be going until September/October 2014 and its really getting to me now!!
You know when you have that feeling of I really am ready for a holiday... i'm ready for cancelling the wedding for a holiday..... I need sun, pools and all inclusive alcohol ASAP :'(

£1000 each for flights and room only for 2weeks is very good, we've paid that to go to york, Pennsylvania this September for 10 nights. Just try to nail him down to booking something sooner rather than later, Vegas would be ace, the only thing I would say is flight prices increase quite quickly, ours went up about £140 in 6 weeks. Hope you get it sorted soon.

£1000 each for two weeks in Vegas is pretty good. Alas it's not cheap compared to other locations. Maybe go to the wedding in Vegas and then go somewhere else in Nevada?

I've toyed with the idea of going for a week to vegas but I cant fly 10 hours for a week plus to go for 2 its like £100 more. I'd love vegas but then again do I want sun sea and sand :/
His indecisiveness has confused me now lol!!

How about a cruise? You wouldn't be stuck in one place, but you also wouldn't have to worry about travelling to another place. They have sun loungers and a pool on the top deck, and are generally all inclusive (ie flight to the first port, cabin, and food).

Hey Jessica, How about going to vegas and hiring a car for the second week. You can drive to california in about 4 hours and have a week on the beach then drive back to vegas for a night before flying home..... Car hire is from about £200 a week for a small car so its not too expensive in the scheme of things..... and would break the holiday up nicely.

    Hi Natalie,
That does sound amazing. I would have to talk to my awkward OH about it.
If all else fails I'll suggest a 2 week all inclusive to mexico or somewhere and then over the next few years save up and surprise him for his 30th with a week or so to vegas x

personally i think your honeymoon should just be the 2 of you not going to someone elses wedding but maybe thats just me! dont rush into deciding on a place now i think you should have a think about it and go somewhere where you both really want to go - should be holiday of a lifetime.

we are going on a 'minimoon' to spain day after the wedding as our next door neighbour has given us 2 weeks in their villa for free. then we are saving up and going away 9-12 months after for our proper honeymoon either to mauritius, maldvies or seychelles something like that x

haha well each to their own. my H2B is in the army so the most i get to see him is 2 days a week at his mom and dads house. i couldnt think of anything better than spending a week with him on my own - it will probably be the longest i have ever spent with him continuously without going to work! but everyone is different i suppose.

ive had mexico recommended a few times from family supposed to be lovely and of course vegas x

My friend and I sorted out a trip to America through Virgin, with flights and hotel, 7 days in Orlando, 3 nights in Vegas and 3 nights in New York came in at £1500 each. Perhaps look at hotels off the main strip, which are just as nice and cheaper. Two weeks is a LONG time for Vegas though, 3 days was just enough for us otherwise we would have got bored lol! Perhaps try and search 3 nights in Vegas with an additional 10 elsewhere, might be slightly cheaper.

Everyone's saying would it be cheaper to do a mini stop in Las Vegas then fly onto somewhere else...

I would say in a word NO definitely NOT! £1000pp for Las Vegas is pretty cheap and I'm a travel agent,I paid more than that for 4nights in New York! The thing with doing a mini stop in Las Vegas then onto somewhere else is the cost of all the flights which is the most expensive bit, so instead of paying for two flights, you'll be paying for 3... 1 to LV, one to somewhere else then home which will bump the cost up, the hotel itself doesn't cost nothing In comparison to the flights x

    I agree!

It's a fab place but not the most relaxing place in the world.....a fortnight might be a bit much, although I'm sure you could maybe drive out of Vegas to somewhere more relaxing.

Also, I wouldn't want to go to someones wedding on honeymoon, but that's just me personally. Xx

You could have a gorgeous luxury holiday for much less if you remain in Europe... We had a budget of £2000-£3000 with £2000 being funded by h2b's mum as a contribution towards the wedding.

I don't know where we are going as it's a surprise, but from my research in to honeymoons and hence when H2B asked where I'd like to go, I found that there are some gorgeous places in Southern Europe, think Amalfi Coast, Italy and Valetta and Mdina in Malta!

You get the glorious sunshine, immersed in gorgeous culture, plus as it's closer to the UK and flights are frequent and relatively speaking, short haul, you're not wasting a massive chunk of your budget on air fare...plus as they are not long haul, the thought of a cheaper seat ticket (say maybe with easy jet) and relying on the hope of an upgrade, is more bearable...after all, why would you want to waste your money on a glorified bus ticket!?

£1000 per fortnight for accomodation isn't bad...but do consider the air fares and that does not include your spending money or excursions...plus how will you feel after 1 week of the strip?!

One of my bessies got married in Vegas but their honeymoon was touring on Harley-Davidsons out there... They have less heirs and graces and are so in love with each other they could have been in mud huts and had a great time! They did a lot of motels on the way with that.
