    Hi all,

Well, a month tomorrow I shall be going up the aisle, I'm starting to get a bit anxious about it..

When I was younger I had a pretty bad stammer - speech therapy, the lot. It's pretty much under control now, but I have noticed it creeping in when I am excited or nervous, I have real trouble getting my words out.

Obviously, I don't want to cover h2b in spit or have the ceromony go on for hours because I can't get my words out, and I'm worried if I start stammering during the ceromony, it'll become self - perpetuating - ie if I start to stammer, I'll become conscious of it and cause myself to stammer worse...

It's really adding to the stress, which again is a vicious cycle, I just don't know what to do!

Has anyone got any hints or tips, or has been in this situation? xx

Before you speak take a deep inward breath ...... Speak on your outward breath

Hmm, gonna have to practise so I know when to breathe! I'll give it a go...I'm just worried about looking like an idiot, as it's something I'm quite self conscious about xx

Get composed outside before walking in, take some deep breathes, and then when you need to say your part, don't rush into it, breathe deeply then do it. Good luck!! And like Lala says, they won't think you are an idiot, I started crying when saying my vows, everyone thought it was sweet. I had been doing so well, then it just came!!!

I suffered from an awful stammer when I was a child and I needed speech therapy for years. Like you mine gets worse when I'm excited or nervous.

My tip is to think before you speak. Nobody will notice if you take a second to think about what you're going to say next. Speak slowly and clearly. Once you get settled into the day it'll get easier and you won't notice a stammer.
