Is it white gold? If it is it could be rhodium plated, which may cause a reaction xx
CommentAuthorWhovianbride
It is white gold, but some of my others are white gold and never had a problem before!

My mum gets that with 2 rings.. The doctor gave her a prescription exma cream.. She can't west her ring for a few days whilst its flared up though.. My h2b also got it out of the blue once under his engagement ring but never again.. The doctor told my mum it's because she washes up, bathes etc and it never dries properly.. Do you take yours off to do those things ? If not I'd suggest it :-) xxx

My wolf ring does that; it is sterling silver; I can only wear it at certain times and have to take it off when washing up e.t.c; maybe you should too.

It could be a reaction to the amount of nickel which was used when manufacturing the ring or like the ladies have said if soap is getting trapped between the ring and the finger that can also have a reaction, I would leave the ring off and gets some cream for the rash and then put a coat of clear nail polish on the inside of the ring to form a barrier between the ring and your finger and then try wearing it.

Thats for the advice will try that!

I get this with my eternity ring, but I wear my wedding and engagement ring all the time and they never irritate my skin. All three are white gold so it doesn't make any sense to me why only one of them irritates my skin :s

I did a go@@ogle search and all manufactures use different amounts of nickel during the production stage.

hey hun, i get the same thing round my engagement ring and wedding ring especially when its hot, sounds like a heat rash to me. take your ring off for a few days to let it get some air to it if the nail varnish thing doesn't continue to work
8th September 2012 I married my best friend

Depending on the carat of gold there will be more / less Nickel on your rings - its very common for people to be allergic to nickel, you can have the ring plated with Palladium which gives the same effect but is more expensive. I worked in a jewellers for many years and would people have had success with the clear nail varnish technique as per the post above , I would also suggest taking the ring off when washing up, cleaning or when using any make up products as chemicals on the ring breaks down the rhodium plating quicker, So by all means use hand cream but make sure your ring is not on when you do - hope it gets better ! x
