I think wedding fever has taken over and now I am thinking of all random bits of things and I wondered what the done thing was in terms of wearing your engagement ring on your wedding day? do most brides take it off or keep it on? I wear quite a lot of rings, including a skull one from my FIL who sadly died a few years ago and I want to wear all mine so Will probably keep them all on.

personal choice amongst the brides on here from what i remember.

The morning of, I took it off whilst i had a shower so didnt get swollen or anything, and then moved it onto my right hand so was indent free, calm and cool ready for the big placement! and tbh left it there all day, until i went to bed!! Then when my hubby & i were looking through our photo guest book i did the big thing & moved it onto my left finger to sit proudly above my wedding band!

    xx

I kept mine on, but then I'm unusual in that I wear my wedding ring over the top of my e-ring rather than the other way round. It looks better that way.
I think nowadays, it's personal choice, so long as it doesn't interfere with the putting on of the wedding ring during the ceremony.

Some places won't allow it, but if that is the case then you can switch it over to your right hand for the ceremony.

My wedding ring is shaped to fit around the engagement ring, and looks odd on its own, so I asked hubby to out my ring on back to front so the band looked plain, then I twisted it around when I added my engagement ring after the ceremony.

Wow, OWB that is amazing forward planning! I'd heard it was tradition for a BM to wear it to keep it safe. Not sure about that though, although I know one BM has the exact same ring size as me. I've just swapped my engagement ring to my right hand and it feels so strange!!

Brides tend to put it on their right hand so the all important finger is free :P You can then put your engagement ring back on the left hand on top of the wedding band but like LK said it is personal preference as some people prefer to have the E-ring on first then the wedding ring on top of it. It is up to you :)

I'm having two bands, a diamond shaped one to go with my engagement ring, and a plain straight one. I'm unsure yet whether to tie the straight one to my bouquet, wear my engagement ring on my right hand, and have OH give me the shaped one, then putting my engagement ring straight on over it (it will look WEIRD on it's own), or, because I'd like photos of our hands with the rings (OH's will match my plain straight one), to have OH give me the plain one, and leave my engagement ring and the shaped band in the safe, and to wear that until the evening, and then in the evening, put my 'blingy' set on.

So, I'm undecided at the moment!

I had my engagement ring on like normal the morning of our wedding and it was only when we got to the ceremony room before the interview that i gave it to my mum and said look after that lol. She gave me it back straight after the ceremony and it went above my wedding band and i remember playing with them before we walked out to our confetti shot saying two rings felt weird! xx

We are doing the "engagement ring vow" during the service so before hand it will be on a clay plate along with the wedding rings and then it will go back on my finger after the main vows!

The morning of the wedding i thought "must take engagement ring off" i forgot and i kept it on my ring finger and only realised when i was at the alter about to but my wedding ring on! cue me having to quickly whip it off and give it my dad who was standing by the side of me and getting it off him at the reception oops!

but as i look at it i sort of see it as symbolic, i took my 'single' ring off and gave it to my dad and then got my wedding ring off my husband... well thats how i'm going to explain my mess up anyway :)
