First of all thank you to everybody that wished us luck before the big day :D I didnt get much of a chance to reply but we both really appreciated it. I cant believe ive been married 10 days now! Its mental!
Wasnt sure whether to to do one of these but im gonna anyway :P
I spent the day before the wedding in the beauticians....my mum and sister go their weekly so they let us book them out for the afternoon and we could have whatever we wanted. MY mum, sister, brother, aunt, cousin and one of my bridesmaids came along and we spent the afternoon being plied with champagne and nibbles! Amazing!
Unfortunately being rather unorganised as i am I spent the evening filling confetti cones and sorting out orders of service etc. so didnt get to bed until 1am. Not that it mattered much cos I was up at 5am and couldnt sleep. I got showered etc. and then we went to the hairdressers and beauticians....my best friend was still running around for me...i forgot to buy the groom a card!!! Bless him...without my best friend I do not know how the wedding would have gone ahead he spent the whole week looking after me and doing the stuff I was getting stressed about!
Anyway, we met back with all the bridesmaids at my mums house at 11:30, just in time for the photographer to arrive. They all got into their dresses and had some photos taken....I was still in my leggings and shirt at 12 changing the flower girls nappy! :O I did eventually get dressed and at 12:45 the cars came to collect the bridesmaids and me and my dad got 10 minutes to relax. One of the most important things I can say is make the most of those few moments of peace....I can barely remember most of the morning or the day after that but those few minutes made the world of difference!
I got into the car with my dad - its literally 2 minutes from my mums house to the church - and all the old ladies from the village were outside to see us into the church. While we had some quick photos taken I could hear the saxophonist, Steve, playing inside. He was amazing, it sounded so chilled out and exactly the atmosphere Id wanted. I cant remember much of the actually ceremony...I was ok walking into the church but shaking by the time I got to Dominic. Id given him a letter to read at the altar so by the time i got there he'd been crying and speaking to our guests a lot of my friends were blubbing too!!! I started crying when my brother did his reading not long after! The next thin I really remember is walking out of the church...we'd picked Crazy Little Thing Called Love and I remember doing a little jig as we left the altar! We sneaked back into the church via a side door while the photographer told us he wanted to set up a shot with our guests. Little did we know he had them all stand in two long lines either side of the path to the cars to make a big tunnel of confetti as we walked out!!! absolutely covered in confetti but it was so much fun!!!
Our driver took the scenic route to the reception which gave me and Dom a lovely half hour just to relax and I dont think i stopped grinning the entire time. I missed out on canapes but everyone else says they were tasty! We had speeches and I started crying again (lots of crying that day!) at my dads speech. He was so lovely about Dominic and i know he was so nervous but it was beautiful. It was an absolutely scorching day - 30 degrees by the time i walked down the aisle!! - so i couldnt eat most of the meal cos i was so hot in my dress, but what i did eat was worth it! YUMMY!
After the food we had some more photos and basically pottered around for an hour until the evening guests arrived. We cut the cake and did our first dance as soon as everyone was there and then I ran upstairs to change into my shorter wedding dress!!! Im so glad I had that dress otherwise I would had thrown myself into the river to cool off! Best investment of the day!!! The band were awesome...played music for me and my ballroom friends to dance to as well as plenty of songs to get everyone up!!! After the buffet there was a fireworks display- a surprise from my parents to Dominic to thank him for looking after me at uni! It was amazing and the photographer says he got some amazing shots! (fingers crossed cos i havent seen any of his stuff yet!) Once people were back indoors the band called me and Dom to the dance floor - I was realy confused and then he had all the guests form a circle around us and hold hands.....then everybody sang 'Perfect Day' to us....I burst into tears and still cant listen to that song without crying....it was absolutely amazing. We had loads of props for silly photos and those have turned out really good - loads of the guests have captured some fab shots!
The band finished at 12 and then after saying good bye to everyone we went up to the main bar with everyone who was staying at the hotel and chatted until 2am!
It turned out to be everything we wanted and more...I have put a few of the pics tken by guests into my photos if anybody wants a nosy. The saxophonist steve also made a little video of the wedding - Ill post a link to it on my wall if anyone is interested.
Cant believe Im a married woman!!! Ill be hanging around the forum but if anyone needs anything just let me know :D
