    Hi Girlies!!!
I am looking for readings, now I am wanting 2 one that involves religion and one that doesn't. I absolutely love the Love Actually (i think its called) but it was read out at my MIL cremation in May and given that our wedding day is a year to the day of her passing and the fact that she died so so young I dont know whether it will be too soon for My OH and his family or a fitting tribute to her memory.

    Help please!!!!

    xxxxx

You'll need to ask your H2B what he thinks about the reading hun.. Only he will know what he thinks to that..
I know it would be way to painful for my H2B and his mum will have passed 6 years by the time we get married..
If you g00gle 'non-religious wedding readings' loads come up :-) xxx

I know I will but he keeps saying he isn't bothered which is so annoying. I think it would affect me quite a bit but I would love to have that feeling of her being included in the day. It will be the best and hardest day of my life. She was so involved in the planning its unreal... luckily I have the best MOH who I have known my whole life to help as well and she is really helping me.

God went all emotional then..... Sorry MrsH!!!!!!!!!

    xxxxxx

Sounds like it would mean more to you than to him sweetie... How would his family feel ? 50% of my family-in-law would be upset, 49% would be fine and one person would kick off big time I reckon.. Maybe have something a little less obvious.. There's these bouquet lockets on the bay that you can send them a picture of someone and they put in on this locket that you tie round your bouquet xxx

    Awwww MrsH that suonds lovely.
My OH is a very closed guy I think it will hurt him inside on our day but he wont show whereas I will be in floods of tears.

I think her husband terry might be upset and he would be the person who would be affected most by it so may have to chat to him about it.

I think its a really lovely idea, but you would need to check it through with some of his close family to make sure theyre ok withbit, and that would also prepare them for it so they might not get as emosh? X

Yeah, it is a lovely idea, but i agree that you should double check with his family, and even then bear in mind that they may say it's fine, then break down when they hear it. Also you'd have to think of who would read it, as although its common to have a few tears during readings, you dont want the reader themself breaking down. Hopefully its all okay though xxx

Being a Christian I should be able to find you a good biblical reading If you want ... you can always go with the classical passage on Love ..

    1 Corinthians 13

    New International Version (NIV)

1 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

    Hi MartinH57,
That is the exact reading I am on about in this thread. I absolutely love it and think its sums up marriage perfectly.
I am also wanting another reading which is much less religious for my dad to read (if he will).

    Jess

    xx

Blessing for a Marriage - James Dillet Freeman

May your marriage bring you all the exquisite excitements a marriage should bring, and may life grant you also patience, tolerance, and understanding.

May you always need one another - not so much to fill your emptiness as to help you to know your fullness. A mountain needs a valley to be complete; the valley does not make the mountain less, but more; and the valley is more a valley because it has a mountain towering over it. So let it be with you and you.

May you need one another, but not out of weakness.
May you want one another, but not out of lack.
May you entice one another, but not compel one another.
May you embrace one another, but not out encircle one another.
May you succeed in all important ways with one another, and not fail in the little graces.
May you look for things to praise, often say, "I love you!" and take no notice of small faults.

If you have quarrels that push you apart, may both of you hope to have good sense enough to take the first step back.

May you enter into the mystery which is the awareness of one another's presence - no more physical than spiritual, warm and near when you are side by side, and warm and near when you are in separate rooms or even distant cities.
May you have happiness, and may you find it making one another happy.
May you have love, and may you find it loving one another!

    Apache Blessing

Now you will feel no rain,
For each of you will be shelter to the other.
Now you will feel no cold,
For each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now there is no more loneliness for you,
For each of you will be companion to the other.
    Now you are two bodies,
But there is only one life before you.
Go now to your dwelling place,
To enter into the days of your togetherness.
And may your days be good and long upon the earth.

May the sun bring you new energy by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night,
May the rain wash away your worries
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And all of the days of your life may you walk
Gently through the world and know its beauty.
