Our wedding reception will be in a village hall (it won't be anything too formal..more of a party really) and as we're on a budget, we're thinking about hiring a Jukebox which we will have for 24 hours. It comes complete with 300w speakers, a microphone and disco lights. This will cost us over £100 less than having a DJ for 4 hours, and it means there won't be any disturbance with the DJ having to come in and set up etc. has anyone here ever been to a wedding or party where there's been a jukebox? If so would you recommend it? I'm a bit concerned about the choices of songs people will pick and whether it won't create as much of an atmosphere as having a DJ. Very much in two minds and unsure what to do!

Ive never heard of a jukebox at a wedding, but i understand what your saying. I think it could be a quirky choice, but i think the success of it may depend on your guests with regards to their choices, their reactions to it and their party mood. Sorry i couldnt be more help. X

Ive seen a few weddings with these now and think they are great! My only concern would be the gaps between songs if no one goes up to pick a song? Will it play songs inbetween?

Thanks for your comments :-) Yes it can be pre-set to play music continuously and those tracks are overridden when someone selects a song. It comes pre-loaded with about 13.000 songs and we can also set a more relaxed, fixed playlist for the afternoon. I think there's also an option to stop a song and choose something else if someone picks a song that is boring or not everyone's cup of tea..(but only one designated person will be able to do this!) Thinking of mentioning in the speeches that people can choose their own songs after the first dance (which we can play at any time) when the night do begins, but that they have to choose something we can all dance to! It does seem quite complicated though and we would have to sit and think about a set playlist for the daytime. In theory it seems like a good thing to do but unsure how well it would go down with people.

That sound sgood if it always have music playing. Could you maybe put a list of songs near the jukebox that you have pre chosen. then if people want a song but are unsure they can pick one off your list. X
