Yesterday I went up to see my finished engagement ring (back story: it's a pretty much identical copy of my current engagement ring, but it's in platinum with D-E coloured VVS1 excellent-cut diamonds; mine is white gold with H-I coloured, SI, fair-cut diamonds).
I saw the cast a month or so ago and was pleased, but O. M. G. It is BEAUTIFUL! I was originally going to get F-G coloured VS stones, and took the plunge at the last minute and went for the D coloured VVS's. I'm very 'colour sensitive' so figured I'd probably notice the difference, but wow! It is STUNNING! The stones are so white, so clear, and so sparkly; I am so so pleased :-)
I pick it up next week (waiting for them to complete the valuation so I can insure it first, plus I need to go back and collect a ring I dropped in for a repair), and cannot wait! Don't know when I'm getting it though, as OH wants to make an occasion of it, bless him!
If anyone is looking for custom jewellery/rings, drop me a message; I really cannot recommend this company enough, not only were the prices very very good (paid £1800 for the ring; elsewhere I was being quoted on average £2500, and I suspect it will be valued at closer to £2500), but their communication is excellent, they never take longer than a few hours to reply to emails, and were fine with my multitude of questions, and my changing the diamond specs at the nth hour. They also do regular stock jewellery at good prices, and offer interest-free finance (not on custom pieces though). So yeah, I'd really recommend them :-)

I have absolutely no idea what VVS1, SI and all that means but I'm glad you've got the engagement ring of your dreams. I got my wedding ring custom made by an independent jewelers in my home town and it's stunning. We saw them on my 18th when I needed to replace my bracelet and they were amasingly helpful and pleasant, best guys to make my wedding ring!

VVS/SI etc is the clarity :-) VVS was the highest clarity I could get for the size of the stones, and it's crazy how different they look! Most cluster rings (mine's a cluster) don't have the greatest quality stones, so, I'd seen solitaires/halos with those specs, but not a cluster; so it was hard to envisage. Def did the right thing though!

Thanks sarah, and yep, will post a pic in my album once I have it (though I NEVER get good pictures of jewellery lol, so not sure if it will do it justice! ;-) )
Oh em gee how do you not know of the 4cs of diamonds?!
Sounds nice! What carat did you go for?
I wanted a Tiffany ring cos even their crap diamonds are awesome! I got my wish!
And we lived happily ever after!

So glad you're happy with it - it's one of the few tangible things you get to keep after the wedding day (other than hubby of course!) xx

Valentina: it's a cluster ring, so, no single centre stone; TCW is 0.66ct :-) I did look at halos when we were talking about 'upgrading', and did try on a beautiful 0.65 ct G VS1 with a double-halo in platinum for £2800; but, I LOVE the style of my ring, and it just wasn't 'right' (though I may well look at getting one for my right hand in the future lol)
Laura: exactly :-) This was why we took the plunge and had it copied; we felt it was worth doing as it will last forever :-D

Well, we went and picked it up yesterday!
I don't have it yet, but we're storing it at mine until OH decides when he wants to give it to me, so, I naughtily had a photo session earlier while he was at work, and the pics are in my album! :-) Love it and can't wait to wear it!
