Are you having round, square , rectangle. I know someone who has tables that were like giant benches! Are you having the traditional top table ?

All our tables including our top table were round. Our top table was not the traditional English top table, it was for hubby and I, my parents, FIL and his girlfriend, my sister and BIL, SIL and her hubby and their two kids (3 yr old and baby).
We used my bridesmaid, best man and 2 ushers to host tables so that some of our guests felt they had a bridal party VIP on their table. My grandmother also hosted her own table (traditionally with the Chinese the grandparents sit on the top table but we just didn't have room. It all worked out perfectly xx

Top table is rectangular, the others are round - personally, I prefer the round tables as I think it's easier for people to talk to each other.
We go to a fair few functions and have always found round to be the best, however I suspect the seating plan might be easier on benches or horseshoe shape tables xx

Fight for what you believe in!
this has been one of my biggest headaches not because i have any awkward relatives or anything like that but because i dont want to choose people to sit on top table, tradition doesnt work because of the family set up so i have decided i am having a huge square 4 big long tables that all meet so its just a big square with seats all round the outside edge only then no-one has their backs to anyone i guess a top table will naturally form as me and h2b will sit at the table so that will become a sort of top table but i like the fact all tables are together hopefully no-one will feel left out!
One BIG day will lead to lots of little happy days !!

I'm having a top table dilemma too. I have a rectangle top table and round tables for guests.... I wanted me and H2B, our parents and his best man on top table. Both bridesmaids are our sisters and will be with their other halves who are not in the wedding party, so i thought they would want to sit with their boyfriends and I hoped my grandparents could host another table. But my MIL to be says that the head bridesmaid should sit on the top table..... I dont want to pick one of them over the other, and the table isnt long enough to have them both....... Any suggestions??
Cant wait to marry my best boy :)

I think we're going to go for rectangular top table and round tables for everyone else, tho MIL to be thinks we should have a round top table so you don't feel like you're being looked at but its my wedding day, people are supposed to look at us :) Don't know about who will sit at the top table yet, our wedding isn't completely traditional as H2B is having 3 best men :) xxx
