I went shopping with hubby to buy his suit. I'd say, yes, you definitely get to see the suit before the wedding :)

Definitely you need to see it. The suit shop we are using asks the bride to be there when h2b is picking them :)

I'm colour blind, so I had to be supervised. Had I went on my own, I would have chosen an electric blue two-piece. As soon as Liz saw it, her eyes popped out of her head, and then proceeded to tell me that I looked like a gay DJ!

Let H2B choose but with help from you. let him have the final say though, as he is the one wearing it all day so he has to be comfortable. :-)

My H2b has picked all the kilts for the men and I was actually very surprised! They were lovely! The only thing I changed was the black shirt to white :). I agree with MrsTalbolt2be, I dont want to see him in it until I meet him down the aisle.. But I've already spoke to MiL and she's agreed to come down on the morning of the wedding and make sure all the men are smart and presentable :) x

i like the idea that mrstalbot2b did. go with him to find the suit n the colours etc but on the final fitting let him go by himself. that way uve had best of both worlds coz u know the colours r rite n its a nice suit but u will still get a nice surprise to c him it the whole thing on the day n he wont feel like ur intruding too much. i think i might do that coz we have have had that discussion too!

absolutely yes! I went with husband to choose - we both liked same style - he was keen on a lighter grey but it made him look kind of 'washed out' so persuaded him to go with black jacket - which made him look even more handsome and dashing :-)

Since when can a man pick out his own clothes? lol x

To be honest...don't you trust your partner. If he's not seeing your dress and he trusts you then you should trust him and deal with it...hes the one wearing the outfit not you. If he wants to have a look then let him. To me its a like bridezilla having that much control over your OH outfit.

Emmal93 im not picking the suit just helping with colours and like the other girls on here have said it helps to match bridemaids and to be fair if you could see what hes looking at you would want to know alittle bit of what hes wearing.! This is a bit of a light hearted disscussion not to be taken massively serious but want to see what other brides are doing

I tend to think that he should be able to pick his own suit TBH. My OH is an adult; he is capable of choosing a suit. That said, he wants me to come along with him, as he's looking at getting two 'investment' suits: a grey semi-formal suit for the day, and a black dinner suit/tux for the evening; the budget for both is £700, and we'd looking at buying suits that will last him for years to come. So, he does want my opinion because I know more about suits.

But, would I insist on going, or insist on them being a certain style? Nope; much as he wouldn't dictate what dress I wear.

To be honest, i agree with some of the others, that i shouldn't insist on going and picking the suits, at the end of the day it's h2b's decision, I would trust him enough to pick his own suit and i'm sure you wouldn't like it if he insisted on going with you to try out dresses and pick which one you should have. But if you say you'd like to be there if he agrees and would like your input too in picking the outfits then fair enough. Am going with h2b to have a look at suits, but it is his decision which one he goes for xxx

I was dead against my h2b having a baby blue suit - however, I went with it, even going so far as to change the colour scheme from sage green and silver to purple and silver to accommodate it....

He then changed his mind after discussing it with a recently married colleague ( of course, this was after the bm dresses were bought in the new colour scheme - oh well) and has gone for a mid grey with silver waistcoat and purple tye and hankie. Me and sil2b (whose husband is best man) went with them, at there request., and the blokes were glad we did as we had quite a giggle. I won't be going to the final fitting so I'll still get the 'first look' on the day. In the end, h2b chose the outfit, with a bit of input, but he was happy with it. If he was adamant he wanted to do it all himself, well, I wouldnt have been totally happy about it but I would have let him do it - after all, it's his wedding day too! Xx

I don't see why the bride needs to see the suit, just like the groom wouldn't see the dress. Plus, I would never go along suit shopping with them as its nice for all the men to go together.

This will make you laugh, my H2B wanted to wear a kilt. I said Okay, that sounds different. He said he would show me a picture of him in one.

I nigh on wet myself laughing when I saw him in this kilt and said No NO NO I don't fancy you in a kilt!!!!! So he is going for a gorgeous black suit!!! ha ha ha

We've discussed his suits and the only thing I asked is that it is black matching trousers, NO grey pin stripe trousers !
We agreed it would be silver waistcoat and cravat for the groomsmen and white waistcoat and cravat for H2B..
But I won't actually see the suits until the day.. He has threatened to turn up in his football shirt and to change the colour of the cravats to green and yellow !!!! But I trust him and know he wouldn't ruin our wedding day by doing something stupid.. xxx

hehe i went totally bridezilla over his suit and for very good reason! i love him with all my heart and soul but if he turned up on our wedding day in his leicester city football shirt i would probably be attending his funeral not our wedding!!! and believe me he would be wearing exactly that! he has no clue and he openly admits it we actually had a laugh choosing his suits he liked to know i liked what hes wearing and he didnt get ripped off either!!! but that said if he hadn't made it clear he wanted some help i wouldnt have interfered i like the idea of neither knowing what the other will look like but i just know it wouldnt have worked for us

One BIG day will lead to lots of little happy days !!

I've shown H2B enough suits, waistcoats and cravats he couldn't possibly disappoint me :-) I 'accidentally' dotted a few in his suit brochure with perminent marker, you know howwhen you have a pen in your hand and you wave it around and poke the page at things you like ;-) xxx

I think you should respect his wishes and trust it won't be a massive mismatch. surely he should wear what he finds comfotable and stylish on the day... lets face it...unless hes going for an autin powers monstrosity, you should be ok! It's just chance I know what mine will be wearing as it's his RAF no.1 Uniform...to save us money more than anything else!
