    Hi all.

We are coming up to the time when we need to start looking into Honeymoon options and to hopefully book in the next couple of months.

We are planning to go on our Honeymoon August 2014 - probably early/mid.

Before we even looked we both thought about going to the Caribbean and we want to do 2 destinations over a 2 week period. Our first thoughts were Barbados followed by Antigua or Saint Lucia, perhaps Aruba. We also like the idea of Miami followed by one of the Caribbean islands.

Now, we have found out that May to October is Hurricane season. However, we have read that "Hurricanes usually avoid Barbados. They arise off the African Coast and head to the Caribbean, swinging North about 100 miles from Barbados" and the last Hurricane to hit was in 1955 and described as "a bit of a breeze"

Has anyone been this time of year?
    Would you go?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

We are going to Mexico in September/October which is in hurricane season. I know people who have been and just had thunderstorms and my friend went to Cuba in November and got hit by hurricane. She said the resorts are prepared and were great.

We went to Barbados in mid August and it was fine. It rained most days but its like a crazy down pour for about 3 mins and then within minutes its bone dry again so everyone would just shelter from the rain and then carry back on with their day (much like how it rains in florida in the summer months, if you have ever been). We had no problem with hurricanes.
    Hope this helps :)
    xx

    That certainly does. Thank you.

When we first started thinking of honeymoon destinations we both had our heart set on the Caribbean and the n we found out that the only time we can go due to our jobs is August so felt quite disheartened that we may not get to go where we wanted.

    Things are looking up :)

You should be fine. Hurricanes season isn't like the monsoon. Only limited areas get hit versus everything getting drenched.

I went to Barbados mid sept time, there was a storm on the other islands but missed us completely we just got choppy water and humidity beyond belief. It's a stunning place to visit and the people are so friendly highly recommend it

ooo we're honeymooning in Barbados too - mid september.

Have been to Florida this time and have been told that it's similar humidity but that, since records began (whenever that was) a hurricane has only hit Barbados 6 times.. seems pretty safe to me :)

Stinky - what currency did you take btw?
