I'm having a small intimate wedding in Canada (my h2b is Canadian and we plan to live there after our wedding) and then having a big 'wedding' and reception in the UK.
There will only be about 5/6 guests from Canada at the reception in England, my h2b suggested instead of having a 'bride' and 'groom' side for seating (family/friends) We could have males sitting on one side and females on another.
Just wondered if anyone else had done this/heard of this/been to a wedding like this... and if so.. .how will I go about it? Tell the ushers? Maybe a poem? A sign?
All advice greatly appreciated :)

We're not having a bride or groom side because H2B hardly has any family, so majority of guests would have been on my side. We have a sign that says "as two families are becoming one, we ask that you choose a seat and not a side" Similar to this

We're not sitting traditionally during the ceremony,ours will be sit anywhere...the meal will be coordinated tho x

I agree with Lauren, it would be better just to mix the sides as per the sign she posted rather than having females on one side and males on the other, as you could potentially still have a similar issue if you have a difference in the ratio between the two.
In my personal opinion, I would find it rather strange if I was to turn up to a wedding with my fiance and get told I am to sit at a different side to him as we are there as a couple so I would expect to sit next to him (as much as I do like some peace from time to time haha)
Mix the guests up a bit. The more I think about it, the more I'm thinking of this myself - it seems far too traditional having one side for the bride and another for the groom xxx
