I'm starting to think about the reception....

I'm having a small wedding with only 21 guests.. buffet food and nice small get together.

What should I do about the tables.. do I have a seating plan so everyone will be settled initially and comfortable with the people on their tables so families are together etc or just let them choose where they sit on their own??

H2b and I are having our own little table at the top so were not having a full top table.

I'm just pondering on what to do with the guests...

Anyone got any tips or opinions on what we should do??
    Thanks

I'm trying to convince H2B for us to have a table to ourselves...

If you're not doing the whole top-table thing, why worry about a table plan? You've got a lovely small number, let them choose where they sit. And it means one less thing for you to worry about :)

We're only having a small wedding (18 of us altogether). We're having a 3 course meal but all of us on one table - 9 on each side. Apart from us sat in the middle with the best man, bridesmaid, my parents and my son at each side of us, I think we're just going to sit everyone else m/f but not a formal seating plan.

    Thanks ladies..

I just really dont know what to do.. it's not a major stress lol just a little pondering thoughts

If I was going to a wedding I know I'd worry about who I'd be sat with so I thought about just putting names on the tables in order of families.. there will be 3 sets of families and 2 other couples.

Were all sat closely so I didn't know whether that would be a good idea or not.

I've never been to a wedding lol so it's all new to me.
I just want the guests to be comfortable with who their sitting next to if you see what I mean :)

People will probably be okay choosing for themselves best thing would probably be to think of where everyone would sit themselves, if they arrive in different orders, that way you'll be able to see if anyone would be stuck, like if the couples would only be comfy with eachother and there is a possibility of them being last in the room and stuck on different tables in the only two spare seats have a plan, also they do look pretty, but if it gets to nearer the time and it's too much hassle don't bother

we havent got set places for guests so we havent got a seating plan. our evening reception if very informal, we are having a hog roast and allowing people to sit wherever they like.x

If you're limited on seats I'd definitely do the whole table plan or at least work out if it would work well. For example if you had 20 guests on two tables of 10 and there were 11 in one side of the family and 9 in the other. there'll be one person seated with strangers so It might be a good idea to check it works first, then if it doesnt you can mix and match with smaller groups and if it does then give them a free for all x

Were only having 22 now as well.Im hoping the resturant will just put tables together and have one big one.I want to have about two centerpieces, and will just let everyone sit where they want i think. Were lucky in that we only have two best friends going each, everyone else is family and knows eachother.Glad im not the only one going this small! By saving thousands on a reception we can hopefully bring the wedding forward.X

i used to work at a place that was used for weddings. if they had a small wedding party we put the tables in a horseshoe shape so everyone could see everyone else and chat to everyone. it was very popular :)
