    Hi :)

I'm fairly new to this site and this whole wedding planning malarkey... Would love to make some friends on here as I really don't know where to start with planning :( I'm not sure there are enough hours in the day!

Please let me know any links you have to good advice or any pearls of wisdom you may have yourselves :)

    Thanks in advance

    Hi!

Firstly welcome to the site. I'm one of the Forum Moderators.

Have a quick read of the Forum Rules thread, it's not all boring rules honest lol. It will give you the names of all the moderators should you have a problem. Tells you how our power user system works and just generally tells you how to use the site. (EG a big rule around here is no links on the forum BUT you can pop links on your wall on your profile page).

To add friends just click on anyone's name, it will take you to their page and you can click to add them as a friend. Or to find someone local to you on your profile page on the lefthand side if you scroll down you'll find a button that says "find friends" that way you can search for people local to you.

We're a friendly bunch here, full of good advice (unless its me i'll just talk jibberish at you lol).

    Enjoy xx

welcome!!! you will soon be addicted to this site :)

Firstly i would set a date!
then find a suitable venue and put a deposit down
    then find a photographer!

those three things have been drummed into me ever since i got engaged, purely because they are the most expensive!!

if you wanna chat more add me as a friend, or message me :)

    Hi and welcome x
I'd have alook at a wedding planning list , on uk bride or google it
I didn't use any of them for timings but rather it gave me an idea of some of the things I would need to plan for.
First step for me was to think about church, registry office or all in one venue - and a rough idea of season I wanted to get married in. What type of reception/meal /evening etc

Ring around a few and get an idea of their availability and prices. Once that bit was done for me, I felt that everything else was just a matter of choices along the way

Edit: actually I lied - I've just remembered I made a rough list of people I MUSt have during the day - people I'd like to have etc just to actually get a rough idea of the kind of numbers we would have - this number made a difference to which venues/regisrty office etc we could choose x

Hi Elizabeth. I know exactly what you mean. I felt a little like that. Still to sometimes. For me, once I started looking round some venues it made it a bit clearer in my head and made me realise that there were some things that I really wanted that I didn't even know I wanted. Once we booked the venue I felt much more organised and now I feel that I have something to work towards.

I also went to a Wedding Fayre and although I didn't choose anything on the day it gave me loads of ideas. A little overwhelming but also very exciting.

The other thing I have done that is helping me to feel a bit more organised is got myself a notebook which is split into sections, every time I get an idea or see a picture of something, I stick in the right section of the book. It means that I have a range of ideas and don't have them all rushing around in my head anymore.

Good luck with the planning. I've sent you a request, so feel free to come and chat anytime. x
