my poor h2b suffers with his nerves and we have found his words are coming out all muddled up. the priest has emphasised the importance of getting the words correct as this is the legal part and has said if he gets it wrong on the day we'll have to do it again til he gets it right butunfortunately that has made it even worse for pressure has anyone got any advice or suffered similar?

why not go to speech classes such as classes people who stutter or stammer go to or something similar to build up confidence? im sure that would help or the teacher would at least be able to give advice.

May sound a bit weird but hypnotherapy could work. It may take a few sessions but should help calm his nerves. xx

forgot to mention, my dad stutters when he gets nervous so im dreading the speeches. alcohol tends to make him worse and i know he would have been drinking on the day so god knows what we will do with him lol!

repetition, repetition, repetition. I don't have any personal experience in this but if he knows his lines inside-out the hopefully he wont have to worry about remembering them as much therefore he can hopefully relax a little. remind him that when you're at the alter the only people who matter are you and the priest. When he sees you no-one else will exist, that should help take the pressure off too. Best of luck.

keep practising them at home between the two of you, it will help him feel relaxed about saying them, then when it comes to the day he can just imagine the two of you are at home practising!
