Some of you may remember I was looking at having my engagement ring copied, and basically, the cast has now been made, and it's great, so, it's a case of choosing the diamonds. It's a 0.66 TCW cluster, with 7 larger (2.5mm/0.07ct) centre stones surrounded by a micro-pave halo, with pave shoulders. The current specs are 1 SI1-2 (no idea of cut but at a guess, would say it's fair-good). I have a choice between D-E VVSs, or, F-G VSs, both excellent cut.
The difference in price is £275, and not an issue; the total cost for the F-G VS ring would be £1495; the total for the D-E VVS £1770. We budgeted £2000-2500 initially, so would be very happy with either.
I do notice colour, so am worried that I might regret going for the F-G VSs. Equally, I don't want to look silly/pretentious going for such high quality diamonds given their small size (which I know is a stupid thing to be bothered about, but, there you go!).
What would you ladies go for?

My e.ring is F-G and it's really clear and sparkles like crazy, has 1 x 4mm, 2 x 3.5mm and 6x 1mm diamonds.. But hey, if I had the choice and money wasn't an issue, I'd definitely go for the best I could get !!! xxx

Georgi: this is it, I know the F-G will be gorgeous, but, I'm worried that I'll get the ring and be like 'Should have gone for the D-E...' I really notice colour a lot (can have a pretty good guess at a diamond's colour and I'm no gemologist lol); if I didn't, I'd probably just go with the F-G which was my original choice. Also, I want it to be as sparkly as possible, so thinking VVS would be better than VS in that regard too...
Urgh, why did I have to go an complicate things?! lol

I think you should go for the best you can afford.. After all, it's a life time thing, not as if you're going to get a new one every few years.. xxx

Like Georgi said if you can afford the better ones go for it! You wouldn't want to get the cheaper ones and regret it? x

Definitely go for the best you can afford. My center stone is E, VS1, excellent cut 0.6ct. With equivalent smaller stones on the shoulders and in my wedding band. If you're wearing it every day for the rest of your life, get the best you can afford xxx
