Hi, i was interested in getting either a singer or band to perform at our reception. Just wondered if anyone has done the same and what sort of prices would we be looking at?

It depends what type of band you want, and whether you want them to just do live or to also do DJing, also how long you want them to do a set for. We have a Greek band which plays live for 3 hours and then does DJing for the rest and that has set us back £1150 (that was the cheapest! One quote was for £4000!!), my friend who is getting married this year has a band that also DJs and it has cost her £1600 and I have a friend who is in a band that gets hired for weddings and they charge £800 for a 3 hour set. It all depends on how good you want them to be, and whether there is a lot of bands near you (if there is they tend to be cheaper as they have more competition for bookings). Hope that helps xxx

Thanks Linzi-Jo. I only want a short thing maybe 1 hour-1 hour half entertainment just to break it up after ceremony and before dinner xxx

Maybe you would be better to look at a jazz band or string quartet type things instead then? My friend also has a string quartet for that bit of hers and it cost her £550 for 2 hours xxx

That's a good idea sounds good to me. We were kind of thinking of having maybe a solo singer or as you say a string quartet xxx
