Well im unsure if i should have a top table, because your parents are meant to sit with you, i have a mum, dad, step mum, and my mums boyfriend, thats 4 on my side alreay... Then i have a 3 year old sister who obviously has to sit with my mum, i have a bother (who is an user) and my older sister who is my MOH. So thats 7 then 8 inculding me. On my h2b side there will be 5 including him...It just seems too many for a top table. I really want one but i cant sit people on there own, so i just dont think there is any point in having one it'll be too hard!
I mean i cant sit my stepmum else where because she doesn't know any of my family, and obviously my dad will be sat next to me etc etc! Going abit mad!

Have a sweetheart table hun, solves all the problems of who can't sit with who and can spread out the quite big amount of people you'd be having on a top table xxx

And aslo, do you actually need a setting plan? I was just gonna let everyone sit where they want, is that possible?

Sweetheart table is just you and your husband on your own table :-)

And venues need a seating plan so they know where everyone is sitting for who's ordered what, so you'd need a table plan xxx

We sat on a top table with our best man and my grandad. My parents sat on a table of my family, his parents sat on a table of his family.

Yeah course.. Unless you're booking a very unusual venue ? Or unless you're only having one option per course ? If you're having the choice of 2 or 3 dishes per course, then you need to send the options out with the invites so they can send their choices back with their RSVPs.. Or like I've done and they select them from the drop downs on their RSVP's on my wedding website :-) xxx

we decided to stick to one option for the menu which has saved me a lot of headache although i have had to adda vegetarian option and a childs option now. But the venue still obviously needs final numbers by the day so i decided i may as well go with the seating plan that way shouldnt be any arguments on the day , if people can find where they are supposed to be quickly and easily makes it run a little smoother. I have also chosen (im pretty sure ive made up my mind) to have the room set up in a square so that everyone is facing each other and although our end will technically be the head everyone is joined anyway thus eliminating any "well i should be sat with them " moments!!

One BIG day will lead to lots of little happy days !!

Lol, I think the venue were going for has 2 choices for 1 meal and just one choice for the other. If people dont like it dont eat it, im not paying extra for them to have food for free! xD And if there are any "well i should be sat with them" moments, ill just be like your sitting here deal with it. Im not the type of person to be nice to people when they are complaining about things they are getting for free! Really does my head in! I know on my day that there will be arguments, but hopefully not as bad as other family occasions! ... We are having our engagement party next month, (as it was cancelled in jan because of the snow), if anything happens there ill make it clear they better not do it on my wedding! I sound rather moody on this but im not just dont wont other people ruining my day!

We are having just one big long table so all the guests will be together. H2B and I will be in the middle of one long side with our parents on either side of us and the Bridesmaid, Best man and their partners opposite us etc. That may be an option for you depending on how many people you are planning on inviting, as well as if your venue can handle on long table?

I think a sweetheart table is a good idea or you could have all the bridesmaids and groomsmen on a table with you then the parents can all host their own tables xxx
