I was wondering what the custom was...

I did have a wedding planning book from the 'for dummies' series, however it seemed to be all American and had a very scary list of suggested 'tips'...like 150 usd for the chef, 50 usd for each waiter and bar staff...

I think that's lovely though hails xx

You don't have to get suppliers gifts, they don't expect it!
But 3 of my suppliers I want to as they have done so much for me already so thought it would be nice, plus the lady making my cake for me is one of my best friends and shes doing it for free so def want to get her something :-)

A nice online review and recommending their services to others is probably the best gift you could give.

We're tipping the bar/wait staff at the venue; probably about £10-20 each.

Otherwise, I'm undecided; it will likely depend on if I feel someone has gone 'above and beyond'/been particularly helpful. If that's the case, I think a nice card along with flowers/chocolates/wine (something that doesn't break the bank) might be a nice gesture.

They get paid to do their job, if someone is doing something for free then fine get them something small but otherwise its a business. I will get all my suppliers a thank you card and write a recommendation as actually the recommendation means more and is worth more than a present to a supplier xx

We didn't give our suppliers any tips or send them a thank you card. The ones that did good jobs got reviews/testimonials and will get recommendations if asked. I did see some people had sent pictures to my dress shop, but I didn't as the service I got wasn't great and I would not recommend them to anyone. In fact I only went there becuase the next closest shop which had my dress was another 90 miles away from where I live.

They get paid to do their jobs but I agree the best thankyou is to recommend them or send a thankyou card at most. We will only be doing thankyou gifts for people who are doing things for free xx

It's all personal choice, some may feel that they wish to tip/gift their suppliers and others do not, It's not about the amount you spend on their services but how well they provide it and make your day that extra special. Hails I think it's a lovely idea and something I was considering as the venue have been fantastic to me through some difficult times and I know my photographer will be working hard on our day too without asking for any extra xx
