Not been on in a while. Been so busy with work and organising everyone for wedding. Anyway here's my rant.

We are working on a really tight budget. So when I worked out that I had extra money I thought I would surprise h2b with a couple of days away. Well we don't have a car just now, so I messages his mum and asked if it was pos to borrow the car the Friday/Saturday following the wedding and she responded with of course. (I did explain it was for going away for a couple of days and that it was a surprise and wasn't telling h2b until wedding day) so anyway had been looking for a few days and finally decided to book 2 nights in Blackpool with a big pass thing that would get us into attractions.

So h2b doesn't use book of face so was safe to post on my wall I had booked a few days to Blackpool. Well his mother is not throwing a temper tantrum. Saying the car isn't safe to drive that far (just passed mot and is only 5 years) and that I should of asked before I booked (which is what I thought I did when I text her)

The worst bit out of all of it was she told him what I was planning. I mean he's very happy, but it's not the point, I wanted to surprise him. Totally gutted!

So now I have wasted money on a hotel I don't know if I can even get to know! Train fairs are soo expensive. Bus takes forever, he's lost the paper bit of licence so can't hire a car!

    Anyway rant over.

I know you say train fares are expensive but have you looked at buying a rail card of some kind?? OK so you have to pay out for it in the first instance, but most times you make it back on the savings of the train journey plus more.

You might get a better deal on a train by changing the times you travel? Or could you ask somebody to buy you tickets as a wedding present (or at least contribute) maybe?

What is she like the spoil sport!!! She should have spoken to you first, but nevermind he knows now and im sure loves that you wanted to surprise him!

How long does it take to reorder a driving license? My renewal was very quick, so maybe if you did want to hire a car you could. Or ask parent to rent the car and put him down as a driver?
    Ummm I'll keep thinking xx

how about you get one of your wedding guests to take you there and back as a wedding gift. or like someone else said ask people to contribute towards your honeymoon that way hopefully it will cost you nothing for travelling as it will be covered.
Have you thought that the cost of hiring a car could just be as much as travelling by train, when you have hired car and paid insurance? just a thought. People may give you money for wedding gifts anyway.
i think it was wrong of your mil to say you can have the car then change her mind once you booked something. especially as you don't have money to throw away. it was also wrong of her for telling your h2b of the surprise. I would be so angry.
hope you manage to get something sorted out
    xx

I know a few of the family are giving us cash as gifts as we have lived together for years. I'm not going to worry myself over it. Well trying not to at least! Lol. Think I'm more gutted at what's she's done cause she feels she's missing out. May I add I'm getting her hair cut and coloured for her for the wedding a week before the wedding I'm taking her to see war of the worlds at the pictures as she didn't get to see it live with me and h2b.

H2b is leaving talking to her until Tuesday when she will be here to get hair done as he's so angry with her. I feel totally isolated and he's having to listen to me getting upset. (Have no family and all friends live far away from me) not that he minds.

I'm sure (fingers crossed) it will all just work out in the end.
All suggestions given tho are being looked at. Phoning about paper bit of his licence tomorrow to see what they say.

Thanks ladies for listening to me moan! X

It's 400 miles, but just going to wait to wedding and hope we get enough to go jump on a train. Not much else can be done. Phone about his licence and they say that it won't be here on time. Cheapest train I can find at mo is £144 hoping it will get cheaper next week! Lol.
