So I think I posted a while ago about my hair and make up being done.

I have currently booked at the moment with someone that has pictures on the book of face and has a website etc she's charging £120 for the hair and makeup (this includes the trial). But I don't know her from Adam (as the saying goes).

H2Bs work colleagues wife is also a hairdresser, she has quoted me £60 for just the hair (inclusive of trial) she's been said by other friends (I know biased) that she is pretty good, she was trying to get in touch with the person that did her make up for her wedding but has had no luck (she also did nails!!) so I would need to find someone to do my make up. I'm not prepared to do my own because I have no idea about how to apply make up because I never wear it.
Anyway this one wants to meet up for a coffee I assume to discuss my hair and what I'd like, so I'm going to go and meet her. There's no harm in it. I sent her some pics of styles I like and she said she could do them.

It's just finding someone to do my make up, or do I just keep to my original person I booked with despite not knowing her and she lives about half an hour away.
Or do I get the work colleagues wife (who I know from when we go out with his work a few times a year) to do it and just find a seperate make up person but I don't want to spend too much on make up, and as long as the hair and make up doesn't come to any more than £120 all together based on what my current person booked is charging.

    Doh decisions decisions!

Yep or if you have a department store nearby Mac or Estee Lauder do makeovers for about £30 and then you spend the £30 on products once you have had your make up done and they give you a bit of a lesson at the same time!

    Thanks guys.

I'm not sure if I could trust myself doing my own though, I don't have the confidence to do it I don't think.

If I did though how long should I leave it until the wedding?

On another note, this could belong to the other thread made, I asked H2B what I should do and he said I should see the wife there's no harm in it. Then he said why do I need make up, if I don't wear it in the first place.

I was like I can see your point, but I get bags under my eyes and I don't want to have a lot of make up anyway just a little bit.

Aren't any of your relatives make up savvy ? My mum will do my foundation and eye make up, leaving me to do eye liner and mascara.. Tbh I always find make up artists work very harsh, even more so when they try and attempt the 'natural' look which to me sounds like you want.. They seem to pale you down alot and then cover you in bright pink/orange blusher......... xx

A lot of times the girls at make counters freelance as makeup artists and will come out to your home or venue. I would recommend M*A*C*, but if you find someone you like it's always worth asking if they're willing.

Remember Jenny, you haven't had your makeup done with either of them so it doesnt matter if you know them or not. If the first lady does a trial, its at that point you can tweek it, less/more natural etc. I'm sure they will go with how you would like to look on the day, she's prob done loads and with all sorts of brides. I have a lady who's doing my hair and makeup for all of us, and I know when i have my trial, if I dont like I'm going to have to say something (polite lol) Thats what the trial is for, so that you are happy by the end of it and can relax about having makeup/hair on the wedding day. I'm waffling, sorry! x

Georgia - My BM is doing her own make up I asked her if she would have a mess around with make up on me but she said I probably wouldn't like what she did. She didn't sound very keen to do it anyway. My mum doesn't wear make up, I don't speak to my sister lol. H2Bs sister wears make up she asked her friend about doing my make up but didn't feel comfortable or something.

I'll be meeting up with the wife either this week or next week to discuss my hair so I'm going to ask her again if she knows of anyone etc.

No harm in having a chat with both of the hairdressers and seeing how you feel?

Maybe you could go to your local cosmetic counter and ask about the possibility of a make over on your wedding day (with a trial first, obviously!) or even ask if there are any freelance mua's available on the day.

Have you asked at your local beauty salon? Don't be scared to ask for discount to keep it all within your budget x

    Hi

As a makeup artist I would recommend you either use a artist or have a lesson. Makeup artists are trained to work in a hygienic and sanitary way. Stores are great for makeovers but not for your wedding. Look for artists that specialise in bridal makeup. Pale faces are because wrong foundations are used. It needs to be without SPF and foundation that's for media works best due to the flash draining your colour.

    Hope that helps slightly xx

Someone mentioned to me about the art and design college which is 5 mins down the road for me? They do hair and beauty there.

Is it worth the risk? Even though I may be helping towards there grading???

I think I'm going to go back to the BM and H2Bs sister and ask nicely or even get down on my hands and knees and beg them to help me with make up.

Spoken to my SIL2B again and she said she would come round one day and we can have a mess about with make up and show me what to do and help me find the best look hooray!

As long as she gives me step by step instructions I think I'll be ok doing my make up myself, if anything does go wrong I've got my BM to help out anyway.
