    Hi guys!

ok, trying to make plans for my wedding music. I'd love to have a string quartet play the music during the ceremony. Brain storming a few songs and i'd love to have amazing grace as it's my dads favourite song but i don't know if it'd be allowed? i know it's a hymn but if it's just the music being played and no lyrics mentioning god or what not do you think it'd be ok?

no I did not realise how strict it is...my friend is a minister and he is not to wear his dog collar.

We have a flutist playing during the ceremony and have bene told no religious music of any sort.
When making our vows I am giving my OH little things to symbolie our vows and the registar had to check there was not a religious or humanastic feel to them.

Its true.. no religious music or reference of any kind. you can't even have a song if it metions heaven, even if the song is not a religious one. Make choosing music a little harder!

We’re having music played at our civil ceremony and I had to get a list from the musicians even down to the filling in music that they may play to be vetted by the registrar and we’re not allowed anything else other than what’s been approved!! Super strict registrars!

It's incredible what they don't allow...I've heard of requests for aretha franklin 'say a little prayer for you' and Bon jovi's living on a prayer turned down. Xx

i've done a bit of digging and a lot of people are saying 'no religious wording' so it MIGHT be ok to have just the music being played by the quartet but its at registrars discression apparently.

I doubt it. Nothing can have religious wording or origin (irregardless of religion of origin). For example 1 Corinthians 13:4, Love is patient, love is kind... isn't allowed because it's from the bible even though there is no mention of religion or God. So I think relying on a wordless version of Amazing Grace won't work.
