I was just wondering what people are doing with their nails?
I've had acrylics in the past but I had my nails gelish gelled last night and I think I prefer that method

Mine will just be painted, as I'm not a fan of falsies. Will just have to be super-careful not to break any in the run up!

Gelish isn't falsies,it's just a gel that's put on underneath the gelish varnish that makes it last up to 3weeks without breaking... I'm hoping my nails will be a bit longer for gelish on the big day because its an organic substance so it makes ur nails grow quicker anyway... I wasn't a fan of acrylics, when I had them off my nails were really unhealthy underneath x

I had acrylics for my wedding, first time ever had something like that done and they ruined my nails so much. Took forever for them to get any strength back to them.

I'll go to N@!ls !nc to get their everlasting polish which lasts for 3 weeks so I can get them off when I come back from honeymoon. I have had those a few times before and they don't ruin the nail at all.

    Where's your nearest big town?

Also, I'm sure you will have a couple of nice good local salons that will do nails, just check they don't file the nail bed xx

I've had awful, bitten nails all my life so I've had acrylics on for the past couple of years!! I've had a few weeks break during that time and have been surprised how strong my nails have been underneath. I love how varnish never chips off acrylics though so I'll be sticking with this for my wedding.

Whoa! That's some distance! That's how long it takes me door to door to get to work in London. Sometimes good beauticians who do nails too can come to your home, see if there are any in your local area who do home appointments and offer gelish or other nails that don't chip xx

Alternatively, one of the girls I work with does her own and they look so professional you'd never know, she bought a kit that included a light machine that sets the gel polish hard and it sets and will not chip so just like getting the everlasting polish at N@!ls !nc.

I had one but can't find it now, my best mate bought it for me but I have no idea where I put it :S

You could look into getting one of those kits.

My natural nails are insanely thin so I get an acrylic overlay on them (no plastic tips). It is a bit of an investment though as I need a fill every 2 - 3 weeks.

You may find the damage done to your nails is from incorrect removal of the acrylic or gel you had on your nails, and not necessarily the actual product. Removing the product yourself or picking at them will actually remove layers of your natural nails. However the nail tech could damage your nails if they removed the product incorrectly too. Which will cause them to become thin, and break.

Gelish and Shellac are both good gel products to use and both can last up to 3 weeks, however not looking after them or been rough handed or the type of jobs you do can compromise the lasting effect.

I do my own nails and when i wear gel (NSI) which i trained with in college they only last about a week on me. But i am heavy handed.
However shellac lasts alot longer on me. But not all products suit all people.

    xx

i'm just going to have a manicure and polish as I have to have my nails quite short and no polish for work and I only have a week off after the wedding so anything long lasting is a no-no!
