    Hiya,

I've got appointments to try on dresses for the first time in 1month, I'm a 16 and dieting :-)

I'm really nervous that I'm going to struggle to get into the samples. I've read that they tend to stock size 10-12 dresses which are fine when it's a lace up one but what about the others? Anyone that has already got their dress, what sizes did they have to try on?

So scared that I'm going to feel fat and rubbish about myself. Once upon a time I was a size 24 and my weight has fluctuated hugely for 10 years so I'm pretty sensitive at the best of times! If it comes to it I'll go to a plus size shop but My first 3 appointments are at mainstream stores.

    Help please?! xxx

    Hi,

All the wedding shops I've been to have all stocked dresses up to a size 24. Just look at the Dresses you like and dont look at the sizes, Don't be nervous and enjoy every moment of the experience, I loved it.

Well done on your weight loss, you have done amazing.

    Have fun. Xxx

They vary greatly hun so don't worry. I went to 4 shops, a local boutique, berkertex, pronovias and confetti and lace and they all stock samples between a size 8 to 18 from memory. Don't worry and just enjoy the experience, size 16 should definitely be a size they can accommodate xxx

In the 2 shops I went to they stocked a range of sizes. If you're worried, why don't you ring ahead and find out which sized they stock.

The shops I went into stocked a variety of size, I tried on from size 8 to 18 just to look at the dress. The 8 they held up for me and the 18 they pinned up for me. I'm sure you will be fine x x

In the shop I got my dress from I only tried on one size 12 (lace up) and all the others were size 18's! Im an 8 so had to have loads of sponges stuffed down the back of it, but a lot tend to have more of the size 16's and 18's as they can get more brides into them, even if they are much smaller, so don't worry hun you will be fine xxx

The last time I went most were 10 & 14, but a lot of shops stock a much wider range. As a 16 you should be fine.

Congrats on your weight loss x

Dresses that I've tried we're also between a size 10-14, there's just not enough room to keep lots of sizes, u may see a dress u love that's a 10 but don't be pushed into buying a bigger dress just cos it fits x

I was dreading dress shopping because I'm no size 10! But trying to lose weight so I was really frightened that they wouldn't be able to get me into the dresses but I was pleasantly surprised when they came out with bigger sizes and the one size 12 pretty much fitted me perfectly. I suppose they have to stock bigger to cater for the bigger sized people but also be able to hold it in for the smaller people.

The dress shop I went to have dresses between sizes 12 to 18, with a section for the larger women. There was a reason for this, 1) the dresses in the smaller size only looked right for that shape and 2) it meant anyone could try on the dresses no matter their size. I am generally a size 8 so when I tried on my dresses I had rolls of towels stuck down the back of the dress! Was quite amusing!
