What do they wear? do they wear the same as the ushers? do we hire them for them?

my MIL to be commented on how silly her hubby would look in top hat and tails (which i want for the ushers and groom) and i wondered if she expects us to be hiring an outfit for him?

mum wasnt sure how it works and i didnt know if my dad is expected to be wearing the same too?

advice please? xx

My dad wore the same as my hubby and best man because he gave me away. My hubbys dad wore his own suit.

I would say FOB wears the same as the ushers, and FOG wears a nice suit ... or in my case the hideous kilt thing that he insists on wearing for family functions xx

We're doing that too, having my uncle (who's giving me away) and h2b's dad in same suits as groom, ushers and best man xxx

At weddings Ive been to, fob and fog tend to be dressed at least similar to groomsmen.

The last one, the groomsmen were in tops and tails, with the fog and fob dressed in the same coloured suits with same coloured ties, maybe this is a good compromise?

We weren't planning on providing suits for the fathers at the moment, although we'll see how the budget goes. Obviously we'll give them button holes, but at my brother's wedding my dad wore his own suit.

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

For our wedding we asked everyone to pay for there own suit hire (we picked the suits and they all matched) bar the best man, FOB, Grandads and FOG all had suits xx

Thanks guys! well i know my fiance wont want to upset his mum so i may just let him hire the outfits and let his dad have a suit that he wants......

she is nice to be fair but she has very funny ideas.

we went to a wedding fair on sunday and she kept saying she didnt like whatever my mum and i said we did like which was quiet annoying tbh.

At ours my w2b's father and grandfather are in very similar to my OH, her grandad as he is like a second father to her.
my father wont be there, none of my family at all will be other than my son.
It is entirely up to you, the other ushers are in almost the same but with lilca bowties whereas OH her dad and gramps are in pink cravats.

We are matching ours however why dont your father wear the same colours and fabric as the groomsmen but a normal suit rather than tails so still fit in but look slightly different?

my FIL2B is in the same as the groomsmen but he's helping to choose the suits and giving a speech so he'll be in the spot light a bit so makes sense, but H2B and Best man are in different coloured ties and having a double button hole instead of single like the otehrs so they stand out.

My dad will be wearing the same as hubby's dad, ushers and best man. All wearing white waistcoats with royal blue cravat and my hubby and page boy (our son) are wearing white waistcoats and cravats but having a royal blue double buttonhole :)

I've never really noticed the fathers at the wedding. Thinking really hard to the last weddings I've been to the FOB & FOG wore their own suits in the same colour as the groomsmen.

My dad wore a black suit the same as the best man and usher (not top hat and tails) - and we bought them these so that they were matching (along with royal blue tie). My husband wore black mourning suit, along with waistcoat and royal blue cravat.

Father in law didn't wear matching at all, and wore his own suit (non matching) as he wasn't really part of the wedding party as such (my dad wore matching because he gave me away).
