Hi all, I'm a newbie. My partner proposed on V.Day. Obviously not even thought of anything yet as it's only been a day lol. My friend said the very first thing to do is buy a wedding planner. Can anyone comment on whether you really need one and which are good?
    Thanks for any help.
    Ali :)

Congratulations, :) how exciting!! I don't have a wedding planner I am doing it myself including some diy projects including invites, favours, centrepiece and cake! I would say though before u jump into getting a wedding planner write or find online a list of things you will need and then decide a date, set a budget and stick to it! :) happy planning though :)

Congratulations! I second everyone else's thoughts, you don't need a planner. I bought one and it has sat happily in the drawer under the bed from about week 2 of planning. This site is much better!

Welcome and congratulations. I agree with the other ladies, there is no need to get a planner, I have a notebook I jot ideas in and my to do list. I think it's just another expense that's not needed, x

Congrats on your engagement. I also agree with the other ladies, you dont really need a wedding planner. You can just buy a notebook and write down things in that.

Aw congratulations on your engagement! I was given a planner when we got engaged and in all honesty, my plain simple note pad has more in it than the planner itself. It's sits nicely on the desk, next to the notepad! I filled in all the basic stuff but to be fair havent touched it since! x

Congratulations! & welcome to the site :)

Do you mean a wedding planner as in a file/folder type thing or a wedding planner as in a person?! Lol

We haven't got a wedding planner person, but I bought a file/folder wedding planner off the bay, to keep all my notes/receipts etc in :) they're not very expensive, depends on what type you're looking for.

If you're talking about a person planner, then they ARE expensive! & not really needed :) it's much more fun doing it yourself! This site is very handy, if you have any questions, just ask :) xx

We have a wedding planner person because she came with our venue, she is really helpful...
I also have a wedding planner book, that has different sections dedicated to different parts of the wedding... Good to keep everything in one place, got it from eBay
