Ok ladies, so from what I understand for the ceremony there is the music you walk into, some music during the ceremony and then the music you leave to. I really don't want to go with anything that's really expected and kind of boring. I want to do something a little bit less expected (not very different, just please not the bridal march!). But I'm a little stuck. My OH likes the more classical approach, but I'm just stuck! Music isn't my strong point, I can barely remember the names of my favourite songs let alone soemthing I don't listen to every day! Does anyone have any ideas?!?!

We've booked a string quartet & I'm having Pachbel - Canon to walk down the aisle to but I'm stuck on any others! They don't have to be your 'typical wedding' songs, it can be anything you & h2b want. Do you have any songs that mean something to you both or songs you both love? xx

think of a song, any song you love and then Google an acoustic version.
me and h2b are metalheads and have an orchestral version of a Metallica song in ours!
When we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours
we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying
weirdness and call it love, true love.

I've changed my mind so many times! I'm now walking down to Gabriel aplins power of love and the piper will pipe us out of the room. :)

Music is my area of expertise; I did my MA in it and I'm a professional flautist. The minimum that you need is a piece to walk down the aisle, ten or fifteen minutes of music to fill the time while you sign the register, and a piece to walk out do. Ideally you could also do with some background music before the ceremony while the guests are arriving. If it is a church service you would also choose a couple of hymns, but the vicar would help with that. For the walk in you need something sedate that works for a slow walk. It also should be something that you love. Popular choices are Ave Maria by Gounod or Schubert, Meditation by Massenet, the Swan by Saint-Saens,or Pachelbel's Canon. The signing of the register can be anything, but should be something that both you and your H2B enjoy. The walk out needs to he upbeat and triumphant. Popular choices would be Toccata by Widor, Hallelujah Chorus by Handel, or the last movement of a classical symphony. These are suggestions from the classical repertoire which is what I know. You can have music on CD, or use an organist if the church provides one. Other good choices for players are a string quartet or a flute and harp duo. Any music can be arranged for these groups. Choirs are also good, but if the wedding is not in a church you have to avoid any songs with religious language. I'm walking into the Gounod Ave Maria, which I will pre-record so that I can play myself down the aisle. We will walk out to the Hallelujah Chorus. We haven't chosen the music for the signing of the register, but we know it will be provided by the two choirs that we both sing with.
The most important thing is that you choose music that you love.
Contact me if you need any more advice.

By the way as a flautist I decided it wouldn't be a good idea to literally play myself down the aisle, playing as I walked, as the end of the flute would concuss large numbers of the groom's side of the church. Not the way to start a marriage really:)
