Hi all, We have a large white framed mirror that sadly doesn't hang on our wall, I was thinking of using it at our reception to write on the order of the evening. I'm worried white-board pen may get rubbed off and if I use some sharpie markers if I make a mistake or something changes it'll be ruined.
Do you think it'd work?

What a good idea, love it. I was thinking of something similar for our seating plan, write each table on some card and stick onto the mirror.
A white board pen will wipe straight off but who will be touching it? A sharpie would work and if you made a mistake it should come off with some white spirit or nail varnish as the mirror would stop it staining I reckon. Could you try it beforehand? Xxx

I've got around 30 kids invited so thought they might touch it, though I guess once the evening is going I could wipe it and let people write messages on it. Might try the two pens on an old compact mirror first.
Surely there are glass pens - what do cafes use when writing special offers on their windows?

Great idea, do you know anyone who works in a hospital where they can grab a couple of alcohol wipes that they use before giving an injection as that will get it off great.

Would some hand gel on something work too then?

we used mirrors but we didnt use pens on it.... we printed it off on nice stationary and then put it onto the mirror. This saved the issues too of it rubbing off and gave it a good finish. People didnt realise we had done it ourselves.

I was going to suggest the same idea as suzky123; printing on some really pretty paper or card and putting that on the mirror instead? Excellent idea, though :) xx

How detailed is your list going to be??? How about using coloured peel offs that crafters use for making cards?? You can buy alphabet and number ones?? Tho, the only problem with that is you run the risk of adults(drunk ones!!) peeling them off and re arranging them??!!! :-)

Could you write it on acetate and put it over the mirror maybe?

I've bought a mirror and painted it white for the exact same thing.... The menu. I have bought a white chalk pen from hobby craft. It is for chalkboards, glass, mirrors etc. this is what I'll be using

I'd agree with Mrs C to be, a chalk pen would work best, and love your idea of wiping the mirror and letting people leave a message that would be an amazing alternative to a guest book

My venue uses those coloured chalks for their menus, maybe they'd let me borrow them. I've not got too much to put on it just thought it'd be a good use of the mirror. Making it end up as a guest book would be special though.
Thanks for all the ideas ladies. And that's what makes UKBrides special :)

Just an idea but you could add pictures from the wedding around the edge of the mirror to go with the messages as well, match up the pictures of people with their message. Maybe Put a disposable camera next to the mirror and have people take a fun candid as they write on the mirror.

If you can't get a suitable write-on, could you cover the mirror with a thin acetate or similar sheet of plastic? It wouldn't matter if you make a mistake then as you can peel it off and start again without affecting the finish of the mirror.
(Edit: Noticed someone got there before me!)

I tried writing on it with a whiteboard pen, looks weird as its sort of shadowed. Not sure I really like it that much. It cleaned off fine with just a piece of tissue, though I guess left a while it may need something added to it.

how about using a colour then using white over the top? just to differentiate the colour from the mirror? xxx
