Ok... so helping the OH a little and finding some information regarding suits.
So i kind of expected about £100 per suit, but some companies ive come across want £100 suit hire and then another £200 security deposit per suit! Is this normal? or am i looking in the wrong places? We've got 9 adults and 2 children, i cant find 2000 extra in the budget for security deposits!!

hun depending on what you want you would be better to buy them on the high street .... i bought very good suits in marks & ***** for £59 each last year and you can always sell them thereby getting some money back

i looked at the Mo$$ bro$ and they were coming in at £85 per suit, that was a wedding package inc shirt, tie/cravat, waistcoat and suit.... we have a local suit place here who were slightly cheaper than that... and most places do things like 5 for price of 4, and if x amount in party groom goes free.
but you then have m&s, mat@lan, the smack your back pocket supermarket all doing cheap and cheerful suits too. . . xx

know its not a brand, was talking more in general. :) If he doesn't like me buy supermarket own beans - he centainly wont be happy if i make him get his user suits from a supermarket ... Im not saying there's anything wrong with them - each to their own i suppose!

To be fair hadn't really thought about buying will have a look in sparks, hopefully get a good bargain.

They are called Dyfed Menswear, based in Wales. Have mentioned they deliver in Devon, so worth checking out. We did get 1.5 suits free too. We saw them at a wedding fayre.

...and that's why I buy stuff, get 2b to try it on, then when he sees it ok and it fits, do I then let him look at the label & see how much it is ;-)

I've left it up to my H2B to pick his suit!!
And, he's really surprised me :-)
He's bought his suit from Ama*on for less than £80.
He tried it on and it's really lovely and fits perfectly.
He's also buying cravette(which I thought he's never go for!!) waistcoat and shirt for another £36.
So, for less than £120 he has everything :-)
Look on the bay of E for sale suits if he wants a brand name??

Is there no way you can cut down the security deposit??
    That really is quite steep??

£200 security per suit sounds quite a lot, is there anyway that you could either shop around or discuss the possibility of a smaller security deposit? xx

There are a few sites online that I've looked at that are less than £100 a suit, incl shirt, tie and waistcoat (depends on which bits you need, ie shoes, hankercheifs etc as this varies the price). But they deliver weeks in advance and you can send back if the fit isnt perfect and reorder. So it might be worth looking at something like that, as I think the only deposit I saw was for like £5 a suit?

    what everyone else said :)
but yeh we are going with a local hire place, £65 a suit groom goes free (as there is more than 6 of them) they are fantastic and really friendly and have everything in store (no warehouse) so total for 8 guys is £455 :)
as we are asking the lads for £50 each to go towards the cost we are only actually shelling out £105

We just booked our suits yesterday, through Moss B and there was no mention at all of security deposits?! We are only using their 2 piece tails suits (£55 each) through them though and getting the waistcoat, tie and cravats from an independent shop(£30 each) (they will be buying their own shirts) so maybe that's why? But we are having more than 4 people so we get the groom's free. All we had to pay was half of the total amount. Maybe the deposit is on collection of the suits but if definitely was mentioned yesterday.

I'd be tempted to suggest that the men wearing the suits pay the deposits - if its their cash on the line, they might be more careful with them, especially thinking twice before they doing the splits on the dance floor!!
