Me and my H2B have decided we want to get married abroad but his family have said they won't be coming because they can't afford it (even though we still have 2 years). My H2B has said not to worry about them as it's their choice and it's our day but I feel bad for him not having his family there. Am I wrong for feeling bad or should I take my H2B's attitude? I know my family will be there but I also know deep down he wants his family there too but a wedding abroad was his idea. xx

I just think that they could save some money in 2 years and be able to come. I feel quite angry about it actually but obviously they will be my in-laws so I don't want to moan about them to my H2B lol xxx

we're getting married abroad too and my h2b said to me when we spoke about it that there will always be the chance that people you really care about and want to go wont be able to,its just knowing that thats the case. its weird cause after he said it to me made me feel better. also there's a massive chance that they can try to start saving once they see that its what you both really want to do we have 2 years til ours as well :D. where are you getting married and are you having a party in the uk as well?

I'm ok though cause I know all my family will at least try and come whereas it seems his won't. Another reason for going abroad is that his dad and mum and her partner don't get on so having a top table at the reception would have been a problem. I know it sounds awful but I feel I have to plan my big day around his family and I'm quite fed up of it now lol. But yeah your right, it's the knowing for definite that they wont be coming. We are hoping to get married in St Lucia and we will be having a party when we get back cause H2B 's step mum wants to see me in my dress lol. How about u? xx

we are the same we are going abroad and everyone has a year and a half to save up, none of my family will be there, my parents cant afford it coz my dad is out of work, but im going to ask them to pay 500 and we will pay the rest. if hes okay with it then thats fine

we are also booking in april or may as soon as prices paying a low deposit, and then everyone can pay it up. We want to make it affordable so want to keep the price for a fortnight allinclusive around 1200!!!

Where are you thinking about? plus we are having a party when we get home x

p.s when you get a price let them know they can pay low deposit and pay it up, may sound more appealing x

we gave everyone plenty of notice to save and pay low deposits, now we have 17 of us going to jamaica so far. my grandad was upset that he wouldnt see us get married but now he's paying a lot towards a church blesing and renewal of vows here so that everyone can come and see us do it all over again
    xx

My nan wouldn't be able to come anyway even if we got married here because I don't want a church wedding so it would be a hotel near where I live but I will be having a big party when I get back. I'm hoping to get married in St Lucia but I'm not sure if we can afford that yet lol. Thanks for the tip of booking early though Sharon.

Sophie that is really nice and you get to wear your dress twice! xx

We're getting married abroad, I don't have as much family as he does so I only have 3 people travelling instead of 18 for him to come here for a wedding, bit much to ask them to do that, so am happy enough to marry in Canada, all of my money saved streches even more over there anyways LOL

Hehehe going to be living there too after we marry as well, he's Canadian, met him whilst I was over for hols with my dad out there, my dad got his citizenship when I was over 18, which is a bu gger as I could have got dual citizenship back then :(

But never mind, I'll get it through marriage eventually :D

Well my H2B has told me I'm not allowed to change my mind anymore lol so we are officially getting married abroad now. I know his mother isn't going to be happy but she has 2 years to save so its up 2 her isn't it. At the end of the day its our big day and we should do it how we want not worry about other people. Thanks 2 U all for Ur advice xxx

2 Years is more than plenty time & if you give them a rough estimate plus say an extra 20% on top or something then they will have enough for it, plus early bookings sometimes gives you better discounts, also group discounts too :)
