    Hi Chanel

If I could bake then I would certainly save some money and make the cake! Unfortunately, I'm not the most domesticated in the kitchen so I'm giving it a miss. My sister in law's mum has very kindly offered to make ours (she's a cake maker so we're very lucky!).

I think it adds a personal touch when you DIY at your wedding. Let us know how it goes, I'm positive you'll have a lovely cake :) xx

Thank you very much for your replies ladies. I have Peggy Porschen's books and I absolutely love it some of the recipes are amazing. My MoH will be helping me to make the cake too :) I am excited about making the cake but a few trials will take place. It is a simple iced cake with a few sparkley bits so hopefully won't be too challenging.

    Hey hun
I havent put someone I know did. She said it was pretty easy and she isnt very creative. She also used polystrene for a couple of the layers which is an option if your not having many people there x

I made my own cake and am really glad that i did (pictures in my wedding album somewhere) Not only did i save loads of money but it gave me great personal satisfaction and to be honest i was really proud of my achievement.I make a cake at Christmas and for my daughters and husbands birthdays but thats it ....i would certainly not consider myself a master baker lol.So if i can do it anyone can.You have plenty of time to practice too plus you have picked a simple style....you can't go wrong. xxx

My sister makes better cakes than I do, so will probably enlist her help in designing our cake! I think I have it in my head already (simple but effective...). Now, to decide on flavours... :)
