    Hi Steph, welcome & congratulations!!

The first thing would be to set a realistic budget .. Your day doesn't have to cost thousands, you can get some great things cheaper than expected if you do some research!

Have you started any planning yet?

Feel free to add me as a friend :) xx

    Hello!

We started by working out how much money we could save within a certain amount of time and went from there in regards to budgeting for different aspects. Also work out what's important to you and how much you're prepared to spend. For example, the venue/food and photography was important for us so we budgeted more money for that, whereas other areas we're asking friends to help us out with making cakes/invites etc in order to keep the cost down.

Also think about what kind of ceremony you want (religious or civil) and find out what you need to do in terms of giving notice, finding a church etc etc. It's handy to do this in conjunction with finding a reception venue (don't do what we did, book the venue and then have 2 weeks of panicking when we were trying to get hold of the registry office to book the same day at a time that didn't leave us completely screwed in terms of timings!)

Hope that helps! I'm sure there will other lovely ladies on here that can give you more tips and tricks!

I agree with Joey86 the best thing to do is start with a realistic budget - how much can you afford to save. Also your day doesn't have to cost thoasands the best thing to do is think of how big of a day you want close friends and family or a larger do? This will help to decide on a realistic budget. Also to help with your budget mid-week weddings will help to save money. I started my planning with deciding on a religious ceremony and a hotel reception ... just make sure both are free on the same date and look around (and haggle to get the best prices). Visit some venues to get some ideas of price. I found going dress shopping made it all seem really real and exciting.
