We went to see someone about making our cake today and they asked about a cake topper. we would like one but we were looking at getting something a bit different. We are both quite geeky and into cult TV shows. I would love a cake topper from a TV show such as firefly. Does anyone know anywhere you get get something like this or get something we wanted made?

I'm making my own geeky doctor who cake toppers (his and hers daleks) try etsy. you're likely to find something on there. But the great thing with tv show cake toppers is, its so easy to do them yourself with all the merch you can buy, all i did was buy some toy daleks which i am glitzing up, diamantes, bouquet and veil for mine, and Il be doing the top hat and bow tie out of fuzzy felt or something along those lines for the boys.

You could ask the person who is making your cake, our cake lady makes absolutely brilliant bride and grooms out of icing, personalised. She charges £50. Or you could have a look on Goo gle, there are lots of sites where you can buy them. x

If u google,I've seen in wedding magazines a few companies that make cake toppers to order, caricature ones of yourselves dressed up etc.... Really cool,if I find website in the morning I'll put a link on ur wall x

You can make cake toppers by colouring marzipan and shaping them by hand. Just google how its done it is so simple.

You could always start looking on the bay, if not, ask the person making your cake, they may be of help, more expensive than the bay though so start there. You'll be amazed what you can get there.

AnnieG - Firefly was a great show, and cancelled way too soon :( Maybe a small model of their ship with a little mini him and you outside it? Getting hold of mini brides and grooms made to look a bit like you should be easy enough, were any little models ever made of the ship? What other shows do you both like?

Don't forget you don't actually have to have you and your h2b on the top of the cake! You could have the ship from Firefly (by the way don't you wish they'd carried on making that show? I love Joss Weadon).
Or could could choose something else from your favourite shows - have a pair of Dalecks and put a little pink bow on one of them.....
Or, if you are having tiers - you could try and get a selection of small figures, each one positioned on a different tier as if they are climbing up the cake!
You don't need to go the tradional route at all! Why not just have a firefly cake? My friends had a massive cake camper van at their wedding - more like a party cake than a wedding cake - but unique to them! x

I am having my grown up posh cake with a second, less grown up topper done so we can enjoy the personal to us touch on honeymoon.
You could do the same? formal for the day and then switch to geek aka fantabulous topper for the evening do?
