    Hey all,

Fairly pointless post, but I'm in the midst of changing my theme colour.

We're having a wintry wedding next year and my origina theme was gold. I don't ant anyred in there, just gold. But I'm really struggling to find a nice gold / champagne colour bridesmaid dress that will look nice on five bridesmaids without looking a bit chinzy or too much.

So, I'm seriously considering changing the theme to silver and white. I think this will still look really wintry, and I'm having the same glitter twigs in silver instead of gold which are really beautiful for the centrepieces, but I'm a little worried that it will look cold, whereas gold is a really warm colour.

I've found it far easier to find a lovely shade of silver for the bm's and everything else is easy to change.

What does everyone think? Will it look too frosty?

    Thanks!

I don't think it will be too cold if there is a mix of white and silver and a good use of light. You could have fur wraps for the bridesmaids?

Nope, I don't think it'll look too frosty but if you're worried try adding a little spash a pale colour as well - like a pale pink or perhaps a lilac to just add a little more warmth. xx

I was thinking maybe an accent of purple or navy blue, but oh won't have blue because he supports Bristol City, who are reds!!! haha! Men!!!

He's happy with the purple though, so maybe even if I just had purple chair sashes?

What would you accent? If the main theme is silver what part of the decor would you have as purple?

    I'm SO rubbish at colours!!

I think silver and a deep purple would look gorgeous !! Like you say, I would have purple chair sashes and maybe purple and white flowers with silver diamantes fitted in. Maybe purple bridesmaid dresses with silver jewellery and silver hair slides/shoes and white fur wraps. Also some Hersheys kisses are purple and silver and would be lovely on the tables as favours. If the venue has xmas trees put up too maybe you could ask to add some purple and silver decs around.

If i was having a winter wedding (which i now wish i was) i would defo go for purple and silver/white. Such a plush gorgeous colour.

I think that sounds lovely hun. I would use those colours if i was having a winter wedding. I agree with introducing a signature colour though. It could be anything. Purple, hot pink, a bright blue, or a lovely turquoise.

Ooh im excited for you. Choosing the theme colour is a major decision.

I personally think just silver and white could potentially look cold depending on the type of materials used (shinier will look colder, fluffier looks warmer). But the purple idea is genius and will totally bring the silver out and warm it up. I'd recommend a deep dark purple that suggests warmth. A lot of chocolate bars feature dark purple in their colours, as well has hot chocolate drinks. People will have that sort of association that reminds them of comfort and luxury.

My wedding colours are black, white and silver with an accent colour of purple to warm it up so I say go for the purple, hehe.
It will look so nice as it is such a rich and expensive looking colour which will complement the silver really well.
I agree with Lynsey too, what she has said sounds lovely.

Thanks guys - I'm definitely going to add a little something!! I've posted a piccie on my wall - the twigs are identical to ones I've bought already, but I didn't think about putting baubles in the vases - in this picture they use pink, but I'll probably go for purples - I can't wait now, i actually think it will look so much nicer than gold!!!!

I love purple! It's my favourite colour & a deep purple would be perfect with silver & white for a winter wedding. I'm thinking purple for my bm's but a real vibrant purple, nice & bright for a spring wedding x

Ah Stacey Royal Blue and white sounds lovely. I really wanted Navy and silver, or a light blue and silver, but oh won't allow blue because his team are reds, and he think it's too cold for a wedding...but will allow silver and white?! Men! ;-)

my cousin got married near to christmas and she had a xmas/winter theme with lots of glitter, fairy lights etc. i was a bridesmaid and we had black ballgown dresses with a silver ribbon/sash round the middle. it was very elegant and went with the men who wore black suits-classic look :-)xx
