Does anyone else really listen to the lyrics in songs now your wedding is approaching?

Music is VERY important in our lives, we always have it on, more than the tv.
Go to concerts as much as possible etc
Therefore the music for the ceremony is VERY important to us
I am now finding myself really listening to the lyrics to songs to see if they are appropriate for the wedding

I think I am starting to irritate H2B a little but as I am too bloomin organised, I have done all the big stuff already

Do you mean for general reception music or music for the first dance or other ceremony type stuff?

Mainly for the ceremony at the moment
I have found my entrance song, one for signing register but need another one
Have a few contenders for the walk out

Would like songs playing as people arrive & are being seated

For the reception/sit down meal we are asking our guests to add their fave songs to the rsvp and will have them all added to a disc to play then

We have a live band for the evening with DJ intervals too

The music element of the wedding really excites me!

This was the only bit I have managed to get h2b interested in. We spent ages listening to the words of songs. Wasn't impressed with his suggestion for first dance -u2 still haven't found what I'm looking for - even if it was Tongue in cheek x

we found it a pain as there were so many songs that you THINK are lovey dovey and then theres a studpid line in there which means it cant be used lol x I never noticed before so obviously it was because I was paying more attention. Tut tut on me so now I pay much more attention to what I am listening to.

OMG we was on you t u b e last night in the car listening to old 80s music really loud and laughing.

Some of the words are not suitable for a wedding and I cant believe what I used to listen to lol

We are having 80's and 90's music and some up to date music (for my mum) for our reception

But we worked it out that we could only really have about 180 songs from 6pm to midnight

We have got a harpist for our daytime music so we have got a list that we have to look at and I have also asked them to get the music for the river flows in you - if you t u b e it should be the first one that comes up its so nice

My H2B cant wait to sit down and decide what music we are having lol - MEN!

We spent ages (got to be at least a few months) listening really carefully to song on the radio, hoping to find a suitable first song dance. I was surprised how it took to find a love song which had a good eat and positive words.

Yes! So many songs are about breaking up, cheating, being betrayed etc!
    Not at all appropriate! lol

I always google the lyrics before a song hits the shortlist! lol

We had classical music for the ceremony but for the nighttime we specifically requested songs that albeit daft meant something to us like LMAFO Party Rock Anthem and We speak no Americano.

For our first dance I really concentrated on lyrics of songs and didnt think hubby was that interested but then came home one night and he'd made a list of beautiful songs that he would like as our first dance such as Never Tear Us Apart by INXS.

We were chatting about the songs and suddenly he said how about Lou Reed Perfect Day and it just clicked. The song is beautiful and it WAS a perfect day..... The song is actually about taking heroin :o(

Amazingly a lot of beautiful songs are about heroin. The drug does appear to inspire beautiful lyrics - not that I am advocating trying it!
