Im in need of a few suggestions.... my sister is a little upset (she is my MOH) as I decided to go ahead and plan my hen night myself as I wanted to be in control and know what was going on and who had paid....I decided I'd let her decorate my wedding cake, as we actually get it included in the wedding package for our reception. It is only a plain 2 tier cake, but we are allowed to take it away a week before wedding and decorate it... Im totally okay with her doing this and would like her to as shes great at baking and all the creative stuff...but because its only a 2tier shes suggested doing cupcakes aswell..again, like the idea....but the table the cake goes on at the venue is so small...so it looks like its only going to fit the main cake on...does anyone know of any cakestands that combine both tiers of a cake and cupcakes so it fits on 1 stand?

Can you maybe get a cake stand thats layered so something like this.....
5 tier cs.jpg
Then put the two tier cake on the bottom with the cupcakes on the other tiers?? With this one you would still need cake boards or something but I'm sure you can find similar that wouldnt need it.
Or even something like this might work so the 2 tier is on top and the cupcakes on the bottom one

If you do a search you should be able to find more stands cake stand one that combines the cake with the cupcakes and takes up so little space.

You should be able to find loads online and places near you. Or could your venue not give you a bigger table?

I had a two tier cake a the top of my cupcakes. My friend insisted on making it and she said it was horrid looking but I loved it. The cup cakes were professionally made. Our table was not huge, but it worked. The venue put it on the mirror which I thought looked fab.
Ohh yes thats perfecto ladies! Cheers, why didnt I think of just having a normal cake stand but with more tiers and then have the main cake on the top 2 tiers and cupcakes on others ...ahh my brain is not working properly today lol...

Sounds like you've got it sorted MrsWearn - you could always alternate the tiers? Great that you can take the cake away for a week and have a play around with it, see what looks best. Also, if you can't get all the cupcakes on - you can leave them in a box hidden away and get the reception staff to top it up as they go down - that's what might friend did at her wedding as trying to get them all on the stand (200 cupcakes) just looked to full and messy. It was good that it kept getting topped up as it meant people kept taking them as they weren't worried about finishing it! x

Ours got topped up as we had too many cup cakes for the stand.

Ahh yeh, perfect idea! Im not having a massive wedding, but I suppose you have to makesure there are enough cupcakes incase everyone wants one! My sisters going to be very busy next year making all them cakes! but she seems really enthusiastic to do it anyway...very glad that we get a plain cake included with our package, however even if we didnt, I wouldnt of paid for an expensive one, I would of either got my sister to make one or just buy plain shop bought ones..thanks for your suggestions ladies! :D xxx
