Not sure if I am posting in the right categorie. I'm about to do my invites for my wedding and I am wanting to put a note in saying that if people would like to give us a gift we would really appreciate the money as we have been living togethter for nearly 5 years so have everything for the home but we would really like the money as trying to save up for a honeymoon. I went to a wedding a couple of years ago and they had asked the same thing in the invites but i cant remember how it was worded. Dont want it to sound too cheeky. Can anyone help? Thanks

Do a search in google and on the bay of e. There are loads of poems asking for money and some sound really nice and not at all cheeky

Or if you don't like the poems, how about a paragraph saying something like:
'we really hope you can be a part of our special day, and your presence is all that we want. If, however, you do wish to give a gift, we would appreciate money towards xyz as we have already set up a home'.
That said, I personally don't like any mention of gifts in invites. We are fortunate enough that all our guests pretty much know each other, so we are letting a few people close to us know that we would appreciate money or vouchers, and hopefully people will ask them. Tbh, in our circle of friends giving money at weddings is pretty much the norm.

If you search for money poems in the discussions search there is a forum discussion with lots in. Also I know Thomas cook sell honeymoon vouchers to wedding guests

We are sending out this invitation, In hope you will join our celebration, But if a gift is your intention, May we take this opportunity to mention, We have already got a kettle and toaster, crockery dinner mats and matching coasters. So rather than something we've already got, We would appreciate money for our honeymoon pot. But more importantly to request, That you come to our wedding as our guest.

The most important gift to us is to have you share our day, but should you wish to contribute in some other way, then to help us on our honeymoon in our chosen paradise, a little extra spending money would be realy nice.

Our one says:
'We've been together for a while and have a lovely home, They're aren't too many things that we don't already own, So please don't be offended or think we're being brash, But if thoughts were on a gift we'd prefer a little cash, But the choice is really up to you and we would like to say, The best gift we could receive is you on our special day'
