someone asked me last night if I was having the wedding filmed! It hadn't even crossed my mind, my first thought was no why do I need that? But now I'm thinking it might b nice! My mum had her wedding filmed when she married my dad and now I have the video coz they are divorced, I used to watch it when I was younger and I enjoyed it! Is it unnecessary? We haven't budgeted for it either?! Please let me know ur thoughts and whether you are having this or not?! :-) x

    Thanks :-) x

I don't think we are either. I may ask my brother to film the speeches though - think they might be funny.

No i am not - i dont want a photographier and video man running around the place so decided we only need a photographier. However i am going to ask someone to film the actual service or me walking in and making our vows as nice to look back on but can be done on a little camcorder so less intrusive xxx

i am having a videographer infact 3 in total cos thats what is included in the package i think its a great idea cos id like to see my h2b and my 2 boys getting ready but wont be able to as i'll be getting ready at the same time in a diff room, also the other videographer will be videoing guests arriving and things that you wouldnt normally see unless you were a guest then they put it all on one disc, i'm quite looking forward to our wedding just so i can see the video at the end of it. lol xx

I really want one, the whole visual images thing is important to me, I think a video is a different medium that captures different things from photos. However, H2b isn't particularly keen on even having a photographer, we definitely are, but persuading him to spend extra on a videographer isn't very likely, and I'm not sure I can justify the cost to myself anyway. I quite like the idea of just setting up a camera in the corner of the room, it's a compromise I think I can live with!

We didn't have one - and we weren't that bothered about one either. We have a lot of official photos, and to see things from a different angle, a lot of the guests took pics as well. When we looked at the cost we couldn't justify lining somebody's pocket for the prices they were charging. Why not see if one of your guests could film some/all of the wedding? It works out a lot cheaper, and tbh has more of a personal touch as well.

We are having ours filmed but it is being done for us for free from 2 of my h2b's friends. They are all media students so they will be filming it and editing it for us rather than getting us a wedding present and have also said they will pay the £25 for the licence from the church to be able to film it xx

Have a look at local uni's or colleges. Quite a lot of media students will do things just for experience as without experience working in the field they wont get a job in that industry. My h2b has done a few filming jobs for free for people. All they ask is that you allow them to use the footage on their showreel which they have to show to future employers xxx

Ask to look at some of the work they have already done, they will have done filming fo their course so they will have something they can show to you. And write up a contract with them if you do decide to do it just pointing out what it is they have agree to do. If it is in writing then they wont be able to leave you high and dry xx
