    Hi,
could any of you ladies give any help/advise re paying the photographer. We are just looking at some now and wondered what the normal payment arangements are. Do they all want paying before the wedding in full? One we have seen wants the deposit now which is far enough but then said wants the remainder 2 weeks before the wedding... The dubious side of me says not to do this . Any help appreciated - thanks

Mines practically the same, he wants the remainder paying a month before the wedding, it all depends on the photographer, but its definitely the norm, if you're really concerned make sure that you have wedding insurance to cover you

We paid a £200 deposit for ours. Although we've started communicating more now the day is closer he said he doesn't want the rest of the money until a fortnight before x

The reason for paying up front is that some people find cheaper phototgraphers and cancel 2-3 weeks before the wedding, then the phootgrapher has no chance of re-booking that date.

I mean really, the dress, cars, cake, flowers.....venue and everything else is paid up front so why should the photographer be any different?

Appreciate all your comments - Thank you
RaggedyAnne - i am quite well aware that people cancel before a wedding but as it was 27yrs since i was last married and my dauhgters in-laws sorted hers, it was a general question as we have just started to look into evertything.

I paid a £200 deposit and then the remainder is either 2,6, or 8 weeks before I can't 100% remember!
Sounds pretty standard tbh but can understand your concerns! xx

we were supposed to pay a deposit with ours but because our wedding is far away we just set up a payment plan we pay £65 a month from now until the wedding which suits us great as we don't really miss the money we have the same arrangement with the videographer were we pay him £40 a month hoping to do the same with other suppliers when we come to book them. xx
