haha im sorry Nichola! but thank you for your post! Price wise i think for 3 tiers that's definitely a good un, most cake makers see the w word and add on a few 0s!! Best bet also, look at high st places like marks and sparks and things like that to sort of price comparison! x

That is really good for that price Hun! Mines is £260 for a three tiered white and burgundy with cascading iced roses allthe way down, chocolate and vanilla sponges.

That sounds about right to me hun. What kind of detail are we talking? If its sugared roses etc then I say you have a good deal at this price as most places tend to add on a fair bit of money for doing those! xxx

I have made my own 3 tiers of fruit.I have also made rings of roses to go between the layers so its as tall as a 5 layer cake.I haven't kept a tally of how much it has cost but i would estimate about £60 in total and i have the satisfaction that its all my own work. xxx

I think thats about right. I cant remember the cost of ours as it was in a package but I think she said it made up around the 300 mark of the cost and ours was 3 tier so I think you have a bargain there. I do know mine was cheap for what I got as she didnt charge me for the time to add all the swirls etc, as she didnt know how long it would take so only charged me a small figure for decorating when in fact it took her hours but she had already decided on a price and I had paid... lucky me. I think it worked out approx 90 per tier plus a little for decoration

I never looked into how much cakes cost, I did look at cup cakes and was quoted £1.00-1.50 per cake. We decided to make our own so started getting the stuff ready like the cases and iced sugar stuff to go on top. My mum said she would pay for them so I asked the same person again and she quoted £65 for 90 cupcakes as I had some of the stuff, so I went for it. We were going to get a cake from the shop and decorate it ourselves but my lovely MOH has said nope she is going to make one for us.

Ours was £450 for 4 tiers, we only paid £90 as Mr Mann's parents paid for 3 tiers and we decided to add another tier last minute and it was wonderful!!! Bottom tier chocolate, second tier lemon, third tier carrot and the top tier chocolate and peanut butter, YUMMY!!!!

Ours were £495 for two cakes, but they both had a fair amount of detail. She was quite pricey but not the most expensive and the best tasting cake by far! We had three tier cake in fruit, carrot and coffee and baileys and the groomscake was chocolate :)

Wow that's really cheap. We was quoted between £500 - £1000. So we have decided to do cupcakes and my friend is making them for us. We have also got a two tier giant cupcake that will cost us £90 with 10% off.

if it helps anyone with pink colour theme the big supermarket beginning with an A has giant cupcake cakes now that would make fab top layer and they you could get other cupcakes for underneath, just if you want to keep the cost down, or you could buy there pink cupcakes with pink butterflies on them

All these cakes look so lovely but I really can't justify paying so much for one! A quote between £500-£1000! I would just die! Our budget is stretched as it is and so we've going for cupcakes. I really wish I could make them myself as i'm sure it cant be that difficult. I just worry that i'd have a big stress in the days running up and it's all be manic! I said to my H2B that i might start practicing and give it a go and he said he didn't think it was a good idea as he didnt want me to get upset if it was a disaster! He said "I'd rather pay to have less stress". So luckily I've found a woman to do them who seems very reasonable. I'm going to meet her October half term and hopefully they'll taste as good as they look online! x

Have you looked at wedding fayres. Some cake companies give you a % off if you book with them. We went to get a quote for our two tier giant cupcake and they quoted us £100 which is more than what I got quoted from London but we went to a wedding fayre on sunday and she has given us 10% off I know its only £10 but its still money off :)
