I heard that it is tradition not to wear it on the day of your wedding and also that the band should sit first on your finger than your e ring so you can always have your band on and it's closest to your heart.

I don't really want to take mine off as it feels weird without it but i want to honour the tradition too.

    What are you all doing?

I shall put mine onto my other hand for the ceremony and as soon as it's over I shall put it above my band. I heard that if you wear it below the band it means you are a widow! Could be wrong though.

Oh I haven't heard that one... I've heard that you wear the wedding band below the ering so you can take the ering off to wash up without taking the band off! Wonder which man thought of that little gem!

I put my e-ring on my right hand for the ceremony and then put it back on my left afterwards. I wear my e-ring first and then my w-ring as I wear them in the order they were given to me. I had a civil ceremony and when I was speaking to the registrars just before they asked if I was wearing my e-ring and I said yes but on my right hand. Don't know why they don't want it on the left hand - meant to ask but forgot.

I think it's personal preference which way you wear your rings ... I doubt it means you're a widow!

Was speaking to a jeweller recently about this and he said more people wear the ering first now. It is personal preference. I think I will have to wear my ering first and then my wedding band as the ering is a little to big and the shop won't resize it. Even though they said they would grr. What ever you feel the most comfortable with. X x

I will wear mine on the other hand and then put it back where it belongs ASAP it would feel weird not wearing it.

I havent heard of any right or wrong way to wear it but did think it normal to wear wedding band then e-ring but I will prob end up wearing it the otehr way round as my E-ring seems to be a bit lose after just 2 months and i dont really want it re sized as had it done to a ring before and the back looks 2 different colours and I dont wantt hat for my E-ring x

It is more personal preference whether you wear it or swap hands or take it off entirely, and also more personal preference to which order.
I have actually heard the ering first then wedding band as symbol of widow but im sure it doesnt matter nowadays!
I'll be 'traditional' in terms of band first then ering, as not everyone has an ering anyway but usually most have band! I'll more than likely wear ering on right for morning then after signing register swap back for the outdoor photos etc!

Basically I have two ring cushions, one for the wedding rings and one for my engagement ring.
After the wedding ring is put on the registra wll then say the engagement ring vow and my then husband will put my engagement ring back on my ring finger over my wedding ring

My 'main' wedding band will be a custom-made shaped to fit one, and it is going to look WEIRD on it's own. I am getting a plain palladium band as well, for when I can't/don't want to wear my e-ring, but I want to get married with my 'proper' wedding band. For that reason, I'll be wearing my e-ring on my right hand, then transferring to my left once we're married :-)

I'll also be bringing a couple of my other favourite rings (a diamond and white-gold eternity, which I wear a smokey quartz and white gold ring over in a stack; my OH bought me them for my 20th and 21st birthdays) and popping them on my right hand after; I love my rings lol

It's literally a line or two lol
    The registrar would say :

"The engagement ring is a symbol of promise and intention. Now the intention is realized and the promise fulfilled.
Please place your engagement ring on *Brides's Name* finger over her wedding band to symbolize that the love that brought you together will always protect and sustain your marriage.

I wore my engagement ring on my right hand for our wedding, then put it back on to my left hand during the ride back to the hotel after the ceremony.

I always wear my wedding ring first, then my engagement ring. My wedding ring never comes off whereas my engagement ring has to be taken off sometimes (and I don't sleep in it either). It makes more sense to wear it this way as it's more practical than taking off both rings just to get to your engagement ring if you need to take it off.

I'm very into tradition to, and I'm sticking to the book (as much as the H2B will let me). But the H2B had an amazing idea, when it came to the engagement ring, as he wants to be a little different, and when I heard it I thought that's amazing, and he deserves to have his little moments on the day to.
So anyways his idea was.. to add one little extra line or two into the ceremony just before the giving of the rings, and just after. He wants to say "I remove this ring as it was a promise to get to this day." or something a little like that, and then after the giving of the ring add another little line in saying something like "I will keep my promises to you" he is keeping his exact words a little surprise.
But I thought it was nice, and it's not overly taking away from tradition.

Tradition is that you wear your wedding ring first and your engagement ring on top - and if you get an eternity ring after a few years of marriage (usually a big anniversary) that usually goes between the two.

I'm so looking forward to finally having a ring on my finger! I have to wear my ering on a necklace most of the time as it's a wide band and easily damaged in my job. However, not sure I'll actually wear it on the day. I have another ring on the other hand to signify the other countries' culture (we both do - left hand here, right hand there) so not sure about keeping my right hand free or not yet...

I hadn't even thought about which way to wear it with the other band! I may not be able to though, as it is rather a wide e-ring already... Will have to see :)

I think I'm going to keep mine on and put the wedding ring on top. I don't feel comfortable without my ER on, when my fingers swelled up from pregnancy I wouldn't take it off until I'd bought a fake one in a bigger size to replace it on my finger. I never take it off apart from when I go swimming, when I'd take a WR off anyway. Also the ER is much more expensive and it means more to me because it's a ring he chose so I'd rather protect it with the WR than the other way round.
