I'm thinking about having a white wishing tree ( the guests will write their wedding wishes on butterflies and hang them on the tree) What does everyone think about this? Is anyone else doing this? And do I still need to have a guest book? X
CommentAuthorLittle Kettle
We did exactly that. We bought a white enamelled steel tree that stands about 1.8m tall. It came with 9 butterflys that attached with magnets. I made some postcards to match the STD's and invites that had ribbon attached (in our colours) and people wrote on those. Everyone really loved the uniqueness of it and the best bit is that we now have the tree as a permanent feature, hanging in our home :)

I love this idea, and i think it would be a modern touch to a guest book, so a guestbook would not be needed in my eyes. x

We wanted to do this, but then I found a lovely mini vintage chest in a local shop, so we're going to have the same sort of thing as the trees but call it our wedding treasure chest :) x

Yes I'm having this, and I also want a guest book to x x

Not even thought about the guest book!? Do you have to have one?
Lizzy. x

We didn't have a guest book with ours. We've put all the postcards into a photo album.

I would suggest putting the wishes in an album in lieu of the guestbook. It might be a bit much to ask people to do both. Maybe if someone has experience with both they could say how it went?

I think its a llovely idea :-) ... Also I am going to become Mrs Bayliss lol :-) x

Thanks everyone, I'm going to wait till Xmas and get my wishing tree, It's sort of xmasy- might find one in a garden centre or something! Also I think I will have guest book aswell so that I have somewhere to put the wishes after.
Littlekettle- will have to steal your idea of keeping the tree as a perment feature at home, I will decorate with beads and butterflies ect.
JadeE26- I can't wait to be mrs Bayliss lOl!

I had a wish tree, during the day I used it to hang my table plans on & after we used it for guests to write there wedding wishes. Everybody loved my tree & made comments about it, I made it myself from a branch out of the garden that I painted white, covered in white PVA glue for shine & sprayed it with glitter. I bought a few love heart decorations & a WISH sign putting it in a old white vase/pot that had pebble in to keep it upright!

Velcro a wishing tree is an alternative guest book hun where people can write there best wishes for the bride and groom on tags and hang them on the tree and the wishing well can be used for 2 things either holding gift cards, vouchers and cards or if open top to hold favours for the guests to take :) x

Looks lovely from what I can see! I think I get it, just use it in place of a guest book! I especially like the idea of keeping it on display and putting the postcards in an album :)

We are having a wish tree and tags printed with peacock feathers. our tree is used in church at christmas and has lights on the branches which will look really cool in the cave at the back of our venue on the evening. I am sending them out with invites so people have a chance to write quotes or give wedding advise.
CommentAuthorMrs Ashman2b
A friend of mine hung a length of ribbon up at the venue and had little coloured pegs to hang the wishes on, it made a really nice feature.
CommentAuthorLinzi-jo
I'm going to be having a wishing tree too, and then will put all the tags around our wedding photo after so we can see them all the time, a guestbook would just get shoved in a cupboard and forgotten about xxx
Got together 14.02.2008
Got engaged 31.12.2010
Will become a Mrs on 30.08.2014 xxxxxx
