My OH has a cousin who will be invited to the wedding along with her 3 young daughters. We were told yesterday that her youngest girls birthday is the same day as our wedding(!) and that they're all really excited about it....

Now I don't want to come across as bridezilla-ish but I want to make sure this girl who I believe will be around 4-5yrs old on the day, is kept entertained and made to feel a little bit special without impacting on our day. After all we only get married once whereas you have a birthday every year!

    Any suggestions?

Can't wait until the day I become Mrs. Johnson :)

You could make a bit of a fuss about her and put a happy birthday balloon at her chair and a party bag with fun games and stuff to keep her occupied?

my sons bday is the week before ours n moh sons is the day after, so we are having a kids disco between the end of the meal and the start of the evening do, as most of the kids we know will be there, and those who are only invited to the evening do will be coming a little bit earlier.

i orginally planned it so they could all run off a bit of energy after the meal, with getting in everybodies way, but i then realised moh boys b'day so making it a party.

Thats a nice idea to have a kids disco, not really practical for us though as there will only be a handful of children at our wedding. There will be 7 of them under the age of 11 there.

i would just decorate her chair, maybe get her a cake to blow the candles out. just make a little bit of fuss. It wont detract from the reason everyone is there...your wedding...especially if you do it before the main speeches and cutting of your cake, if you did it like that you quite easily switch the focus from her to you.

Decorated chair and balloon sound good, as does a little cake though we can't have a candle as our venue doesn't allow them for safety reasons.

Thanks all, I just want to ensure this littleun is looked after, as I know how important birthdays are when you're that young.

Maybe before the meal you could have them all sing happy birthday to her?
Then it's not getting in the way of speeches and things xx

I think the balloons and a little cake is a perfect idea. Maybe you could get a little birthday tiara, so she can be a princess too. :)

I would put a birthday banner on her chair as well as a balloon. Maybe have a present at her seat too. Maybe a little cake where everyone can sing to her at the end of the meal but still wont take it from your day, with one candle in the top... im sure if you speak to the venue about it saying its a little gils birthdya can she have one candle in her cake that will be blown straight out the may be ok??

It was my uncles wedding Friday, and my oter Aunties birthday but obviouly with her being older it wasnt such a big deal however My uncle and his new wife while giving out bridesmaid presents etc had a huge bunch of flowers for her while the dj played congratulations lol x

i think go with the balloon and cake idea, or even just a peice of cake being presented to her with some sparkley bits on it, and singing happy birthday. she'll probably have her own cake at her party when she has one.

i think having a seperate kids disco or bouncy castle is too much... its nice top acknowledge her birthday but her parents will make it special for her before and after the wedding, and at the end of the day, it is your wedding.

a simple little 'happy birthday' to her with the balloon/banner and a present on her chair will be enough, she'll enjoy herself at the night time if theres a disco anyway :)

    xx
