Wedding Forum - WE DID IT 17/08/12 !!!...

We did it!!!!!! eeeekkkk!!

It's been a roller coaster this year with various ups and downs with friends and family but it is honestly all worth it girls so keep going with your planning and don't let anyone drag you down :)

I was so relaxed the day before it was so unlike me because I am usually such a stress head but it really did help to be super organised and know that I had done everything I possibly could to make sure the day went well. My mum and I just had a quiet night at mine with a takeaway and DVDs. Went to bed about 11pm but didn't get off to sleep till gone midnight cus mum was rabbiting on with nerves!
The bridesmaids arrived at 6:45am with a McDonalds breakfast and I forced at least half of it down. The morning went in a blur with the photographer coming and going and the florist dropping off the flowers. I had a hair and makeup lady booked to come to my house and she did a great job of both me and the bridesmaids. The bridesmaids were not that helpful and it was me organising them which I really could have done without. One decided she didnt like her hairstyle and was such a moaner I said to change it, which delayed things. They ended up leaving my house late without sorting me out and the makeup lady had to lace up my dress and put my jewellery on me, she was lovely and I dont know what I would have done without her.

I got to church 20mins late because of the bridesmaids and traffic but saw my dog outside which was amazing and really calmed me down. I was buzzing when I got into Church and walking down the aisle was FANTASTIC. Seeing Adam at the top waiting for me was the best feeling ever. In the run up to the wedding I was so scared about the service but it was the best part of the whole day. The champers and the swig of vodka before I left the house probably helped me keep calm hehe!! Adam laughed (with nerves) and cried through his vows which I loved because usually he is such a non emotional person so it meant so much to me that he showed his emotions. I was the strong one and didnt cry! I thought it would be the other way round.
We left church and it was drizzling with light rain, luckily I had a few white umbrellas for people to use. I got the best man and usher to bring them to church just in case as I knew the forecast was bad with heavy rain predicted.
We got on our vintage bus with the wedding guests and travelled to our reception venue. I had really wanted a group shot of us with everyone beside the vintage bus and we couldnt get it cus of the rain and I was gutted. Me and Adam had a few shots but the rain really was too much and we had to follow our guests inside. My bridesmaids didnt help me at all whilst I was outside getting wet so I felt so mad at them. I went into our bedroom to freshen up and had a little cry with frustration at the weather and the bridesmaids and overwhelmed by the church service as I think it just hit me then that I was married.
The wedding breakfast was gorgeous food altho me and adam could barely eat a thing. The rain stopped and our photographer grabbed us for some romantic pics outside before the dessert. We thought we should get the shots whilst we could! Then the speeches, they were great and Adam made me cry. My dad is not one for public speaking and he was brilliant too, I was so proud. I so wish someone had video'ed them for us ;(
We had a Marryoke and a Caricaturist, which both went down brilliantly and kept everyone entertained.
The evening do was great, it was full on raining again but this time it was a positive as it meant that everyone had to stay inside and party! At some weddings when it is a gorgeous sunny evening you can lose a lot of guests outside and have an empty dancefloor. Our first dance was a waltz (we'd had a few lessons) it was really hard work in my dress and I had material all wrapped round my feet it felt terrible at the time but my friend took a video and we actually looked quite good!
The night do got quite messy and things generally do when alcohol is involved! Everyone was constantly standing on my dress and I could barely walk anywhere without being yanked back cus someone was stood on the dress. I had it bustled up but it made no difference and the loop got ripped by people standing on the dress and my friend had to keep using a safety pin to put it back up. She had to do it at least 5 times, everytime someone stood on me it popped out. I got a drink spilled over me, it went all inside my dress and wet my hair, so I went to dry off and had a few more tears. Luckily Adams auntie fixed my hair and makeup for me again. I really was tired and over emotional at this point having been up for 16 hours. I got bashed on the head with drunken hugs, and crushed in a huge group hug but I did manage to drag Adam off for a couple of moments of peace in the rain for a kiss!

Even with the little hiccups it was still the best day and I am so happy to be married but also a little sad that it is all over.

My advice is to enjoy it all, don't take any crap bridesmaids, focus on you and your H2B and if it does rain go with the flow - we live in the UK after all! xxx

Awww, congratulations!! I don't know how to upload your pics, sorry, but am sure someone will come along soon to post them for you.
Thats such ashame about your bridesmaids not really being there for you on your big day, how selfish!x

I love your attitude to the rain. That's my biggest worry as the forecast for sunday has changed every time I looked at it. I will bear in mind if it is raining when were doing the photo's, we'll nip out when it stops to grab a few shots. We have a beautiful river outside the hotel that I really don't want to miss out on.

Congratulations hunni, you look gorgeous! Ps I just know my bm's will be the same lol. I'm stressing myself out about hiccups on the day already and I've got 6 months to go arghhh!
