Just thinking, when im married will i need to change my name on the mortgage and do you reckon they will charge for the honour of some new paperwork? If they are going to charge i will just leave it in my maiden name but dont want it too cause issues if everything else is changed to my married name?

when i spoke to my bank about changing my name they said they would change mine over but would have to go through a lot of forms and another credit check would have to be done for the mortgage.

I'm with HSBC and it was easy for my bank account, just take in your marriage certificate and fill out a form with your new signature, and they changed all my accounts, cards etc over for me - got a new card about a week later :-)

Another credit check? Really? Do i have to change it over or leave it be as seems alot of hassle and the plan is too sell and move after were married so maybe leave it too then?

Seems like you need a credit check just to walk out your door these days! Grrrr!

We don't have a mortgage yet but as far as I understood, if the bank has your mortgage they change everything for you at once. If your mortgage is with someone else you're best checking with them - my friend didn't change her accounts over till 8 months after the wedding, but they bought a house within 6 months - and having a diff name on her account to her real one caused some hassle and complication!
Def agree they shouldn't be doing a credit check though!
