It's my OH's boss who's lovely but she has spent a fortune on hr wedding, she even took a week off work to make her invitations!

It's the complete opposite to ours with all pomp and ceremony!

Advise please on what to wear etc etc!

Wear what you will be comfortable in
I would suggest a simple classy dress (one that you could wear again)

Just because she has spent lots of money, it does not mean it will be any better than your wedding
    See it as research!

Sit back & enjoy it x

Do they have a dress code? Are you invited to the whole day, or just the evening? Is it a church wedding? Because these things would influence what I would wear.

In general, I think a safe bet is a nice dress, ideally knee-length and not low-cut, with heels, nice jewellery, and a cardigan or jacket. I would also dress more conservatively for a church than for elsewhere. If I was only invited to the evening, then I don't think you need to dress quite so conservatively (eg above the knee dress is fine IMPO), depending on if there's a dress-code.

As a general rule though, I always think it's better to be slightly over-dressed than to be under-dressed.

I would still wear a dress for the evening
Nothing worse than feeling under dressed

A nice cocktail dress should be the perfect balance between classy and partay! Hope you get some good research in whilst you're there!

Its not about price, its what theyve done with it. there are many people who spend ridiculous amounts of money and it goes above and beyond tacky, and some who spend loads and have such an elegant elaborate wedding! and same goes for the other end of the budget!
Look at real weddings in bridal mags and programmes like four weddings...all different budgets all different types!

I'd wear a nice dress & heels whether I was going all day or just on the night. unless they've specified a dress code in their invites!

As a lady you can never go wrong with a great cocktail dress - that's why it's great if you can find a go to LBD. Unless the invitation said elegant eveningwear a cocktail dress will have you covered. I'd be more concerned about what the OH is going to wear.

I didn't mean to sound like I think that your OH can't dress himself. It's just at formal occasions there are much stricter rules of dress for the men than ladies. If you are really concerned you could ask the bride what she expects.

Believe me I've been to a £25k wedding and a £2k wedding. They were just as nice as each other and they both had their own special touches.

By the way, another vote for the cocktail dress here :) xx

Like others have said, use it as research :) & wear something that is classy & elegant yet comfortable
Just because the budget may be rediculous amounts, doesnt mean its going to be brilliant!
