hi ladies I need to get back into the wedding spirit now (having decided we are definately going to do it in cyprus!) I did start making my own bouquet and crystallised my pumps-for the evening and Ive ordered more glue to do my Heels too.

Im unsure about making my own invites etc I am capable of making them as Im very crafty but need to get a printer (can get them cheap enough?) I did say I wanted to make things rather than buy to save where I could..Im just unsure though????

What sort of things would I need, card etc?? Where have you bought yours?

Thanks hun, I just dont know what to do Ive seen some amazing looking invites that i would LOVE but I begrudge paying for them as we are going to abroad and I know not many people will be coming so will be a waste to get so many invites for people who wont end up coming? if that makes sense?

I dont think I could make them myself though...

the idea of them is lovely, would it be cheaper to design your own and go through a local printer to get them printed to get the good quality? xx

I managed to get a passport invite template off of the internet - although it was very hard to find! You can then make them yourself. If you wanted, I can send you the link?

I'm doing my invites and to be honest it's been a little stressful. It's probably because i'm quite indecisive as the thing that has kepy worring me is "Is it right?" "Will people think they're nice?" "Is this the final design?" I've gone through about 4 "finished" designs now and finally (i think) decided on the one I want.

If you've got a clear idea of what you want I strongly recommend doing it yourself. I've priced up my final design and it's come out at about £23 for about 100 invites (postcard style card, insert, envelope) i've also had to pay for some ink for my printer but i'm hoping to sneakily print out the inserts at work (the card it too thick for the work printer).

Paperchase do good packs of textured paper/card and they also do pack of folded cards and enveloped. A good website for interesting card and paper is eco-craft and they'll send you free samples, also good old hobbycraft do loads of good stuff. Loads of websites do downloadable templates, try****** LINK REMOVED******* - there is some fabulous stuff on there. Otherwise if you have a good look around on invite companies for a design you like then try and have a good at a version yourself. The website ******** LINK REMOVED ****** is excellent for free fonts - they allow you to create lots of good thinks even in Word - just put all of your text in different text boxes so they are easy to re-position.

I'd say if you've got the time - do it! You'll save so much and once you know what you want to create there is loads out there on the net to help you. I'll try and upload a pic of our finished prototype in a minute. Good luck

    Lizzy. x

I wanted to make my own, everyone advised against it, when googling save the dates, invites, inc inserts, evening invites, rsvps, table plans, menu, order of service, table and name settings for the handmade things I liked I was looking at close to £1000for it all. Decided to make my own. Found a fab American site that does lots of types of invite, and all the mats, and inserts, bought all that I needed pre cut to size, bought my lace for the invites, I have the printer, and I've done everything mentioned above (yet to make but have down mock ups) for £300 which is still a lot, but an awful lot less than what I was looking at.

My bridesmaids and h2b are all helping me with making them

Could you borrow a printer from a friend/family member? I was gunna buy one, theres loads on sale in Tesc0 and currys etc at the moment, but SIL2B said her dad has like, 3 printers and there;s no way he needs them all lol, so Im gunna see if any of those are good enough. Not like I'll need to keep it once I'm done, I'll do my save the dates, then give it back til I need to do my invites I think. Just need to make sure they print on card....
