So our colour scheme is turquoise/silver and am finding it very hard to find nice flowers to suit. I then remembered when my parents got married that they actually had silk flowers due to allergies etc & my mom still has it to this day. I love the fact that after 28 years of marriage she still has her bouquet & the flower her mother wore. A nice reminder of a lovely day. Also with silk they won't wilt throughout the day etc & I'm assuming you have more flexibility with colours / shades etc.
Are other brides considering silk flowers instead of real, or could anyone advise on what would be better? Pros/cons & such like. Also price wise is it considerably more to have silk than real?
Any comments would be kindly appreciated.

I've got silks, they're in my profile. I paid just under 200 for the bride bouquet, 2 bridesmaid bouquets and 4 buttonholes but there are a varying range, some of the ranges are more than half the price but same quality just depends on then intricacy of the design and they accept payment in installments, they give you a date a month or two away from your wedding and then you just pay a bit when you can as long as it's all paid before the date they specify

I'm going for real flowers. I'll press some and put them in the photo album after, but otherwise I'd be stuck with loads of silk flowers.
CommentAuthorLulu1388
ah thanks, wow £200? thats not bad at all! i was expecting silks to be way more expensive than real.. obviously just like anything the more detail, the higher the price! Did you find somewhere online or go to a local florist? And btw, love the colour scheme! & ur dress looks stunning! x

I had real flowers (but was careful to get ones with little or no scent) and have since had my bouquet recreated with foam & silk flowers.

Im going for fake. Me and my mum bought some foam & a couple of silk flowers last week and she made up a mock bouquet and it looked real and was a fraction of the price that florists charge. So were going for all fake as it'll save us plenty of £££'s Plus be nice to be able to keep my bouquet after :) x

CommentAuthorMrsShaw
if i could chose again, i'd go silk, cheaper and can keep them forever :)

CommentAuthorMrsShaw
plus with silk, you dont have to worry about what flowers would be in season at the time xx
CommentAuthorbiochrissy
we've gone for a mixture. real for the bouquets and button holes and mothers gifts, then silk for the tables as this was cheaper. also used some foam roses in other decoration going around the room xx

I had artificial because our colour scheme was royal blue, and I wanted blue roses in my bouquet. It cost just over £60 for my bouquet (teardrop) - and my bm had a round bouquet of ivory roses (again artificial) and that cost about £30.
CommentAuthorRaggedyAnne
I am having a mixture of both.... I have made my bridesmaids bouquet from silk Ivory roses, and I have ordered fresh gypsophela to pick up the day before the wedding to add to the bouquets. I looked around and couldnt get a good silk one, they all looked really plasticy. I have ordered 25 bunches at 80p a bunch, and will add them to my own bouquet, the buttonholes, the birdcages too if there is enough.
I want the bridesmaids to have something like this, so I will probably need quite a few bunches just for them...

Im having silk flowers and they look amazing! Havent bought them yet but for a bridesmaid posy,3 BM, a table arrangement and buttonholes its £109. Im also having her make two alter arrangements at £20 each. You couldnt tell they are fake.

ive got silk for my bouquet and buttonholes and real for the reception, that way i can have my bouquet for years to come
CommentAuthorPrincess2be
Im hoping to go for silk ones if they look real enough.x
CommentAuthorLulu1388
Wow you guys seem to have found some really good quotes! The only local one ive found to me, their prices on website look! ridiculously over priced!! Even if they were real i wouldnt want to pay those sort of prices!
RaggedyAnne that bouquet looks beautiful btw! I wouldnt know where to start in making my own, but by the looks of it finding some decent silk ones shouldnt be too costly, i just need to find somewhere! I want silk as my colour scheme is aqua/turquoise and silver and havent found much luck in terms of photo examples of colour bouquets that suit other than in silk! And also the idea of a permanent reminder just like my mom did!
Madison_uk, I hope you dont mind i was just being nosey and if the flowers in ur album are anything to go by they are beautiful!

i'm uncertain still. i'm going to make my own centre pieces with silk or foam (will see when i choose them) and i was thinking of bm having homemade silk or foam but i've seen a picture of the flowers i want and don't think i'll be able to get in it in silk or foam and still look good. mine i think i'll trust to a professional lol
