Not sure if I've said but I've badly sprained my ankle (jogging trying to loose some weight) and with only 6 weeks to go its not healing very well. I've been told by my physio lady I cant wear heels on my big day - I'm heartbroken. :(
Too top it off all the flat bridal shoes look frumpy and so far away from the shoes I've always dreamt of wearing, plus due to swelling I cant get many on my bad foot.
What do I do? Its bad enough I may have to walk with a crutch down aisle as been told i must use it for 10weeks or until the ankle fully heals, to prevent a permant limp occuring.
Just need a pick me up in the shoe dept!!

Have a look at non-bridal flats, I have some very sparkly silver ones for the evening which I dont think are frumpy at all :)

There are so many people out there who will tell you
    what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!

Hey Hun, what exactly did you do to your ankle? How did it happen and do you now how badly it sprained. I am a physio so might be able to help. Normal healing time is 6-8/8-12 weeks depending on severity of sprain. Difficult to say without knowing exactly what you have done but I think saying an outright no to heels is a bit extreme. I'd certainly avoid dancing in them but as long as there not too high and if it really meant that much to you I would be inclined to risk it. To reduce the swelling use ice baths regularly at least twice a day. Xx

There may e lots of swelling now, but it shouldn't be as bad in a few weeks time. Do as your advised. Keep it elevated and the ice baths and this will reduce the swelling. I intend to have some flat shoes for the evening as I know I won't tolerate heels all day, but if I don't find the right sparkley, nice pair, I will get some plain ones and customise them. There is always that option.

Thanks all for positive thoughts :)

Jodie - feel for you, really hop they'll let you postpone to september.

Bambi - hey :) - I was jogging backwards part of my pt bridal session to warm all muscles in legs (jog forwards, then sideward and finally back) unfortunately on my backward stint, my heel found a small hole in ground and ankle twisted outward and foot inwards if that makes sense. This happened 13 days ago and still cant put full pressure on, when I do it goes outwards and feels like its giving away. (i'm overweight so that probs dont help) I have swelling from just above toes to mid calf, its slowly reducing with the laser ultra sound treatment (not sure correct name). Bruising is just starting to come out, (have pics I could post in album if interested) - they said i made it worse as I wasnt wearing proper trainers but the ones with higher heel (avia itone toning trainer) my PT kept telling me to get better ones.
I'm currently icing it for 10-15mins every 2-3 hrs, but also advised yesterday to try massage it upwards to disperse swelling. (only once warm not after ice )

Everything your doing sounds good you need to keep the joint mobile to help fully recover without complications. A simple exercise to do: sitting on a chair, hold you leg out in front and with your toes write the alphabet in the air. Hope that makes sense :/ with the ice therapy it's best to do it little and often throughout the day. Don't keep ice on it for more than 20 mins at a time. What you can try if you have 2 large washing up bowls or buckets is contrast baths. It work really well. 5 minutes in warm water ( warm not hot!!!) and then straight away plunge into Ice cold water for 5 minutes repeat 3-4 times. Kept it elevated as much as possible. Basically you need to keep the joint mobile as that will help swelling but also with a degree of rest. It's a fine balance. Don't over do it because your stressed with wedding. It will heal in its own time but you can certainly help it along by keeping it gently mobile. With the massage you need to massage upwards to the very top of your thigh to your lymph nodes so the food can be absorbed otherwise you'll just be pushing it around. Good luck with it all hun let me know if I can do anymore to help. Xxxx

Awww :( I'm wearing my trainers under my dress once I've done the ceremony, because I'm clumsy :(
if your dress is long enough perhaps no one will notice the shoes ;)
